✭given that the internet (outside of this forum) is widely awash with how bad the performance is right now, i would suggest that they are somewhat ****ing in the wind..

Sad thing is ESO has no exit survey or anyplace other then the forums for players to give feedback in cases where they are dissatisfied enough to quit the game and that is a little sad. Good companies realize that negative feedback is just as important as positive feedback1

✭✭✭✭✭I disagree that goodbye threads are inherently non-constructive. I'm sad every time I see someone announce they're leaving the game. I wish more attention were paid to the causes. But at the end of the day, their forum, their rules. Goodbye threads are against the ToS and will be closed.1 -

Ash_In_My_Sujamma✭✭✭✭✭Locking goodbye threads is to hide negativity in their "community" and keep all those new players that joined eso during the dragonhype. However the said negativity has its source in the game itself and all its unsolved issues , not the forums. The forums are just a medium of expression. So no matter how many threads they lock that won't stop old players from unsubing or new players from losing interest in a few months, classic wow is ante portas after all.
How many more times can they yell "wolf" to get the attention of their customers, I wonder. How many more in game issues must stack for them to take action?1 -

I think it's more because people tend to attack the person who made the post, which just gets toxic. People criticize the game all the time, so I don't think it is because they want to try to hide dissatisfaction. 90% of the forum posts revolve around dissatisfaction.0 -

Zorgon_The_Revenged✭✭✭✭✭Goodbye threads are troll bait, even if completely unintentionally. People leave all the time, some return later, none of them I've read had much to say. I honestly don't know these strangers and can't say I care what they do, but good luck in your future adventures.

Depends. Could be construed as actual feed back provided they aren't just one lining it and outright explaining why they are quitting the game. From a marketing perspective you want to entice people to play so if you can learn the reasons why people are leaving even on an individual basis its helpful.
Depends on the context of the thread and whether or not its just bait.
If its threads that have full, rational reasoning behind them then I would say its dumb to lock them and remove them and can be seen as ZoS either trying to hide them on the grounds they aren't constructive (which they are actually too a degree). If they're just 1 liners i.e "Hey ZoS You suck I am leaving bye" then well yeah they deserve to get removed.

The forums are for discussing the game, good and bad things, constructive criticism, ideas, and stuff you'd like to see in the game, or stuff you want taken out of the game.
Someone pitching a hissy fit, ranting, and throwing their toys out of the pram before they take their ball and go home really isn't any of the above. Someone thinks their opinion about something should be shouted to the world because REASONS darn it, and if no one pays attention to me then I'm leaving, and if I leave the world will immediately end. Then in a few months they come back, and are totally astonished that the world didn't end.....2 -
