Just against TOS. That's the only reason ZOS needs.

    Inb4 lock for discussing moderation.

This is just Law, nothing personal to particular thread. You know in some states weed is permitted on legislative level and in some is forbidden. Same here.

Given that almost every thread is about issues or dissatisfaction, I doubt that was the reason.

Nearly every game forum has always had a lock-policy for "farewell" type threads. Nothing new here.

Why don't you want them to lock the good-bye threads? Want to see if the record for how many posts made with "Can I have your stuff" can be broken?

Former. I have never seen a farewell thread that was more productive than a complaint thread. There are plenty of complain threads. ZOS has publicly admitted that they need to and are working on performance.

I don't see how a farewell thread would make ZOS aware of things that they've never seen in the hourly performance complaint threads.

Also, it isn't like ZOS is hiding the complaint threads. Complaint threads often get locked because people break very reasonable parts of the TOS (such as not flaming) and then act like their free speech was unfairly suppressed when the thread gets closed. When the entire reason the thread got locked is that those same people broke very desirable parts of the TOS and made the thread useless.

Also, in before thread lock for breaking TOS.

Goodbye threads are only there to create drama. Generally speaking, the people who make them want everyone else to agree with them that the game sucks, for whatever reason. The purpose is to create the perception that there are far more people leaving than there actually are.

It's kinda like when someone doesn't like the food at a particular restaurant, so they badmouth the restaurant to the whole town with the implication that nobody likes the restaurant. They may be the only one who's eaten there that didn't like it, but someone who doesn't know this person and hasn't realized yet that they are a pompous ass might assume they speak for everyone.

So in this case, the PR move is the correct one on several fronts.

Quiting, non constructive, or baiting which is basically the basis of any conversation, they always have a reason to silence the community instead of actually addressing the issues.

For as long as you've been here vs. my time here, even I know that quit threads are subject to locking/closing. Why are people making a conspiracy about this now?

Well.... drama most likely. It's pretty quiet around here - Friday night, lot of people out watching movies, or hanging with friends, or drag racing somewhere they think they can get away with it (yeah, happens around here still - though the last time wasn't a very good outcome for people....)

So guess some folks want to stir up sludge.

Certainly not First Amendment protections. Natural rights to free speech in abstract is a different beast that still wouldn't apply. There aren't any natural rights to free speech that ZOS would be compelled to respect.

Freedom of speech only means you cannot be imprisoned for what you've said, it does not shield you from any consequences of that. If you say something that violates the rules of a community, they are free to tell you to kick rocks.

Well, no one cares except maybe your friends and guild, so tell them and don’t bother the rest of us.

It’s just excuse to make a complaint thread, so... make a complaint thread, you don’t need an excuse.

Some threads are even being disappeared, for example: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/480775/boycott-crown-store-sept-2019

And who knows what happened to the OP. Reeducation in ZOS's summer camp? Room 101?

There is nothing harmful about quitting threads, they are simply pointless and clutter up the forums. ESO is not the only game that has them deleted by mods from the forums.

It’s all just the same when it comes to goodbye threads. Usually has mispelling, all caps, or something completely incoherant, like angry rants. They take up space and block out important threads. Imagine trying to look for help or trying to report a bug in the forums when there’s like 10 new goodbye threads eating people’s attention. Or something along that line.

It has been longstanding forum policy to not allow goodbye threads. They offer nothing constructive. Wanna just *** & troll? You can do that on Reddit to your heart's content.
