One hour with no update

The no idea of an ETA is crazy. It it sat night and we are sitting here because we don't know if we should check back in 5 mins or 5 hours.

    One time I stayed up and posted on the forums for the entire unscheduled maintenance.

    It was over 10 hours later.

    They probably have no clue what's gone wrong. I guarantee someone at ZOS tonight said the phrase: "Oh Lord, what now?"

    Yep. So at this point just assume it will be down all night and into the morning. The last time they had this it was down for almost 14 hours, and the problems seem even worse this time.

    My partner will be home in 40 minutes and my little girl fell asleep just as the servers went down so going off my logic servers will be back up in 40 minutes when I have to get off

    Trying to find the issue means they don't know how long it will take to find it. First they have to understand the issue, do troubleshooting, find the issue, fix the issue, and potentially bring the servers down and back up. Only in the last 2 stages could an ETA even be attempted.

    Troubleshooting 101 here. I am sure there are plenty of high level execs and CS reps demanding an ETA to report as well but it sometimes takes a while to get your precious ETA.

    Doubtful "high level execs are in bed right now. There is most likely though a guy responsible for server hardware stability having a really bad night.

    Their communication is terrible.

    Some idiot will come along and say that the devs shouldn't waste time updating their customers, which shows they know nothing about business , but inc fanboi "leave them alone". 3......2........1......

    They don't have to give specifics , but any communication is better than none , they haven't learned that lesson.

    Fun game, but they are running amateur hour on the CS and PR side.

    What kind of update do you want? You want them to say "We're still working on it"? Because that is what is going on.

    Its not like they just decided to give up and go to bed for the night. There is a giant red message at the top of the page telling you the servers went down for maintenance. I assume they are doing... maintenance...

    The children crying about the server being down for maintenance after there was an error are ridiculous. If it DIDN'T go down to be fixed, all we'd hear is "OMG Zenimax, get it together, why don't you fix these long load times!" but instead, their prompt addressing of the issues had people all bent out of shape. "OMG It's Saturday night, and I can't play my favorite game!" Ya know what... this is still launch window. It's an online game. This is entirely expected, and I for one, am glad they are doing it now, instead of tomorrow during the day. Let them do their jobs, and show your support for the dev team.

    And to the "their communication is terrible" guy... honestly, it's been one hour. Maybe they've devoted a lot of man power to all the tickets that have been submitted in the past couple of days, maybe they're trying to fix the issue so you can get back to playing the game faster. Who knows. What isn't happening is they aren't sitting around rubbing their hands together, taking pleasure in your inability to play the game always, on demand, a mere week after launch.

    So seriously, go eat something, hang out with your wife/children/parents, whatever, or maybe even get some sleep. If none of those sound good to you, turn to your other forms of digital entertainment. The game will be there tomorrow, and it'll be better that it was before. Every. Single. MMO is a work in progress. If you don't like that, don't play them. Or you could join with the rest of us and use your energy to forward constructive criticism to the dev team, be an active member of the community and stop crying.

    I don't think the server maintenance was for the lag... it was the thousands of people who lost bank slots and skills the hours before the server went down..

    but that's been happening for several days now. It's in the documentation of their previous fixes.

    This is all part of the game.

    I think that's the problem, all the fixes aren't sticking, merely bandaids that keep falling off. Our IT people at work who can barely turn on a computer do that crap. They "fix" stuff by just rolling back to the previous back-up and pretending they fixed the problem, only for it to return again in a few days.
