The 'big talking cats' are senche-raht and they are as much khajit as any other and just as sentient even when being ridden.
The 'talking cats' are alfiq, also just as much khajit and just as sentient and absolutely not housecats.
They are completely different from feral cats -- all of them are khajit. They just look different because of the moon phase they were born in.

I pity all khajit born under a moon cycle that prevents them from having thumbs.

Well, at least these senche-raht are big and musculare... Other than those house cat like ones...
Can you imagine coming from a race that created humanoid Cat-People, super buffed giant cats, and you are unlucky enough to be born as a freaking kitten?

Alfiq might be small and look like a regular cat, but they usually have very strong magic capabilities.

And will never have the experience of having thumbs.

Maybe they can use magic thumbs!

I think it's for the best, given that my tipical journeys involve lot of detours to pick up flowers, mine ore, cut down trees, open chests, pick more flowers: a trip from, say, Vulkhel Guard to Skywatch takes no less than half an hour; if my mount could talk I bet he would swear like a sailor all of the time

Yeah, but... The Khajiit that turn out humanoid can do strong magic too…
Honestly, I would be so pissed if I was one of the Kitten Khajiits, they clearly drew the short straw…
Well... at least they can move to a human city, look for some rich single woman and live like royalty for the rest of their lifes… Honestly, I wonder if thats already the case… imagine in some rich old woman house, you find out one of the cats is actually Khajiit and shes like "Just keep quiet about this, I have a great gig going on here, I get all the food I want, all the toys, and I can literally sleep all day."

Yet again the Alfiq are the MOST powerful of all the furstocks regarding magic. They're probably more in line with Aldmer and Bretons regarding that. They are followed by the small bipedal ones (toquay?).
Isn't there also lore on Senche eating/hunting alfiq?
