I myself run on harder vet conent with friends and Im able to do every possible content on my stam char usign trash pots and major brutality from skill and savagery from evil hunter xD
ofc not everyone will inv me to every content like from just basic nobody progressing will inv melee stamina dd for vCR+3 etc...but if I have people who trust me I can do every conten in this game using this cheep set for using trash pots xD
otherway Im exp enough to do this content and no...with this setup to use trash pots..not being forced to use craft pots I still do enough dps so it isnt specially low in group, its just enough to be acceptable everywhere and no need to use craft pots as you seems to not want use them also as you was considering to just use set for crit xD
Are you a NB? As a NB, taking up a slot with Evil Hunter is just as useless as having good crit and wasting a 5 piece set on Toothrow, lol. If you are a NB with low crit looking to up that crit chance, Toothrow is a better option than having EH on my bar, imho. Again, this also depends on the rotation. My Killers blade did 56k. That was the highest number I've ever seen on him and he did it only once, but still...I never have EH. It's just a waste in PVE. I admit, I quit PVP a while back, so I cannot speak for PVP as I mostly run PVE and only enter PVP for certain reasons, then leave. So yeah, it just really depends on the abilities the player is using.
What are you on about? DPS is more then a single skill usage. It is fact you will get more DPS with hundings and using pots. Then hundings+Hunter. Then just using toothrow. Not really debatable. Though this really only applies to people that get 90k+ on the trial dummy, to normal people that get less then 30k that dummy, they won't see a difference. Personally I run toothrow on my Stam sorc and just double bar Hunter on my Stamblade, I get ~60k DPS on the trial dummy this way, which translates to about 30k actual DPS in dungeons.
hundings and leviathan are minimal score points sets, they are weaker than Toothrow.
Thing is, you can have access for Major Savagery from other sources, like slottable/usable abilities or potions. But if you don't use this kind of potions (i don't, not worth at least for off-chars) or can't find use to any of those abilities, this set is very good.
