Is it worth to have a separate character for crafting or better do all crafting on main?

I do everything with my main.
Fyi, there's enough skill points available in the base game.

If you're just starting out you can have Char 1 research Jewelry, Blacksmith Weapons, Staves, and Clothing while Char 2 research Blacksmith Armor, Leather, and Bow & Shield. Once your main guy runs out of stuff to research, the second character can craft what they know to research on your main. This way your bank/mules aren't being flooded by items waiting to be researched.

If you have a toon just for crafting, you have to do something about skill points: quest, run after skyshards, whatever - or you won't have the points to level up the crafting when you need to. I have a friend who's in that position and having to rethink. I wound up there myself in RIFT, so deliberately did NOT go there in this game.

I have a system for that. While I usually do writs on multiple characters, I send all the survey maps I get to my crafter. Every week (give or take) I look through her surveys, and whichever zone she has the most for, I send to, and that zone becomes her "base" for the week (or however long it takes for her to clear it). While she's there she does her writs everyday and at my leisure will head out to complete a map or 2, and grab whatever overland skyshards are along the way. Once she's done all the maps and gotten all the overland skyshards I send her to whatever zone her maps take her to next.
I ignore the delve skyshards as they take longer and I get more than enough so far just doing overland. But the delves are there for next time she's in the if she needs them.
