Ever since the newest chapter the has been worse than ever.
Major frame rate drops, constant disconnects, random load screens, extremely long and permanent load screens. Doesn’t help at the fact that servers like PC EU are in a ridiculous state, to put it kindly.
Let’s also mention unfixed bugs that had persisted in this game for months or even years.
Stuck in combat....
loadscreens when keeps flip or get downgraded. This one is by far the most ridiculous. If a keep flips or gets downgraded you can guarantee you’re going to hit a load screen and will likely be disconnected.

Like honestly this games performance is such a meme at this point because you literally cannot even PvP when it’s prime time and faction.
Zos if you don’t start seriously begin to fix these bugs and fix the performance then this game won’t last long.
It’s also pathetic how you remain silent on all performance threads but heaven forbid someone says something regarding the crown store. The performance needs to be fixed. I understand that zos made a big announcement about a potential fix that may or may not even happen in U24 which is in 6 months.
If performance is this atrocious for another 6 months you’ll lose a lot of players before then.

The devs have a spotty record of addressing these flaws, yes.
The devs also have turned the game around from a flop at launch, into what we have now with One Tamriel and the ability to play with friends like a proper MMO.
Yes there's absolutely room for improvement, there always is, but throwing out this doomsday nonsense is just plain false.

of course when role playing you wont have issues with performance but for those of us who bought this game TO PVP it is absolutely unplayable. Even when leveling my necro in skyreach it was unplayable, for multiple people i was with.

Zos doesn't care. They never have. I made a thread like this maybe 2 years ago listing about 30 threads from the first 2 pages of the general section of the forums. All threads about terrible performance. They didn't care they, they do not care now. People will keep posting and they will keep staying silent. Prove me wrong.

It's not just pvp, dungeons are a laggy mess right now too. Sound effects, music, etc, go silent for 5-10 seconds at the start and end of combat then play all at once when they return. Visual effects from skills seem to be delayed at the same time as well. Which is a pain when you're trying to apply buffs to group members, but can't actually see if anything hit them. Bar swapping and using skills intermittently stops working as well. Regular overland areas are also acting wonky even in off hours. I don't know what they did with Elsweyr, but performance is straight doodoo right now.

I have noticed a bit more lag. Just in PVE combat I cast an instant and there is a hesitation before it activates. Sometimes after a critter that was moving toward my characters is killed it "teleports" to a final resting spot - where you try to loot it and you get a 'target out of range' message.

Ya ive had all those things happen in pve this patch.. Invisible enemies as well that make it unplayable. But pvp is, and has been, on another level of awful performance for a long time now. Elsweyr has taken it even further.

I mean ive been making pvp performance posts since before morrowind, its unacceptable how silent they have been on it for so long.

ZOS stopped supporting PvP a long time ago. Of course they will not tell you that. All you have to do is look at what they have done to address the constant complaints by players addressing the many performance issues associated with PvP.
Constant load screens, lag, crashes, rubber banding, combat bug, stealth bug (cannot interact with anything while in stealth).
The problems I have listed with the exception of the Stealth Bug have been going on in PvP for years and nothing has changed. The Stealth Bug started after the 6/10/19 patch and has not even been commented on by ZOS in the forums.

What is really sad is ZOS does not care As long a players continue to pay to play their game and support their crown store they will sit back and do nothing.

Many folks I knew from beta launch have left this game finally fed up with ZOS. I left for some time and then returned only to find nothing had changed many of same performance related issues and bugs still remained with even some new ones to add to the mix.

Only one word sums up ZOS. Pathetic One thing for sure you will always know the Crown Store is working just fine and ZOS will continue to tall players what they want to hear. Of course that's when they even comment on a issue reported. But in the long run do nothing.

I don't even listen to their live streams anymore. Got tired of all the bull. We are working on this or working on that. Ya right.

The saddest part to me is that there is still some people in this community that, for one reason or another, are not affected by performance and always like to comment on this topics saying everything is fine.
One must be a special kind of selfish ignorant fool to say these things when the forum is flooded with people asking for help and asking ZoS to fix the problems. I mean, everyone should be concerned by the poor performance because sooner or later it could also affect them...but nope some people are just too selfish.

I believe there are a few reasons why this game still has so many players, IP being elder scrolls and no new solo elder scrolls came out in ages, there is no good new mmo on the market, and also because it catters and has lots o content for casual players.

Yep, been noticing more PvE lag on PC-NA this past week as well. It was fairly minor and mostly during higher-traffic times at first, but it's already been bad so far today (e.g., skill lag, bosses teleporting), and it's only about 7:30 am Eastern/4:30 am Pacific. And that was in Murkmire. Can only imagine what it'll look like at higher-traffic times and in more populated areas this afternoon/evening.

Eh, you know that there is such thing as inertia? This subscriber numbers show results of previous preiod, i.e. spring and results of "free week" in March. Obviously given lack of new good classical RPGs on the market and aggressive Elsweyr advertisement on every corner (basically while playing Skyrim, I dreamed that TES6 will be in Elsweyr) a lot of new people bought it. Now servers can't handle them all. If you are not impacted that doesn't mean nobody is not impacted. And in addition to that there is some serious problem in Elsweyr patch code, because consoles get similar problems as soon as patch landed.
It's not only about PVP and trials, even dungeons and overland are lagging in peak hours now. If you think that newbies will have great pleasure playing lagging game... I seriously doubt that, if ZOS won't fix this problems fast one way or another, those newbies will give up, same as lot of old players are playing ESO much less now. Because 1-2 second delay between button press and action simply causes headache.

In virtually any "as a service" model, people care about active users, the number which ZOS never provides. But I guess the numbers are better for marketing when you include dead accounts that haven't been touched since 2014.

Does anyone else remember the console patch where every loading screen had an 80% chance of being an infinite one resulting in you needing to restart the game? Or when Maw of Lorkhaj was crash city for months and people could barely get to the first boss? Or Cyrodill being lag city?? wait.. thats all the time..

My point is that eso is guaranteed to give you almost garbage quality in some unique way each patch. Either it's game performance which it is right now or class balancing (looking at you magwardens). There's highs and lows.. except I can't really think of any kind of high point with this patch lol.. just lows
