As a fervent Pact fan it pains me to admit that Darien is my favorite recurrent character indeed. Mostly because he gets to transcend what he is and become something else. All others are just regular old mortals. Have not played through Summerset or DC zones, or AD zones, but I too think he should make a comeback. A permanent one.

I can't stand Lady Laurent and her Stibbons chamber maid. She's idiotic and he's even worse for feeling attraction towards such a waste of pixels. Spineless weakling, both in body and in character. What could anyone see in him that's attractive? His frail constitution? His balding head? His complete lack of personality?

I gotta agree with you. I couldn't even fix Stibbons by trading his soul with that warrior in that tomb. I forget the specifics.

You will see him come back in Summerset, and learn why he is not -quite- applicable as "covenant NPC", and never really was in the first place. Also find out whatever happened to him after the mainstory end, and why it was the only thing that could have happened to him. And his fate as well.
Trust me, you will see him in quite a different light when you meet him with a new alt after that one... but you will understand why he is where you meet him, and not in some other places!

    Whoever said he was -attractive-?
Well... okay, maybe to several deadric ladies who likely are into BDSM and femdom and find him just adorable and sooo want to put their collar around his scrawny little neck and then stick... uhhh, I probably need to stop here, or i will get censored again! :naughty:
But his persistance in the face of that waste of headspace Lady Laurent represents... I suppose that -does- make him a reassuring memorable presence if nothing else.
And its really fun to joke about him being the most "Fan Favorite" covenant NPC! (Even tho his "fans" probably are just waiting to see what mess he got himself into next time! Or rather, Lady Laurent has gotten him into!) :p;)

Stibbons' main character strength is his unyielding loyalty.

A very, very rare trait indeed.

The other factions have so few good NPCs that it's easy to pick a favorite. The DC, however, has (partial list):
    • Jakarn
    • Lerisa
    • Darien
    • Gabrielle
    • Emeric
    • Verandis

Who in the AD do I like as well as or better than ANY of those? Razum-dar, Ayrenn ... and the list stops right there.

Who in the EP do I like as well as or better than ANY of those? Naryu, Kireth ... and again I'm out of names.

Generally I agree, but while she didn't play as large a part (unfortunately), I quite liked Captain Jimila for AD and would have liked to see her play a larger role. The captain of a Gold Fleet vessel of independent command has the potential to be pretty interesting. I'll hope to see more of her in Elsweyr.

Starting from when you see King Emeric, ironically, the Stormhaven main story is pretty bad. Rivenspire is great. Alik'r Desert is ... padded, but aside from the slow pace it's fine. And in Bangorkai they throw one thing at you after another; there are a lot of good story ideas, albeit kind of messy in how they fit together.

I think @angeleda is the best Covenant npc. Can be found at Cyrodiil most often. Nice dialogue and immersive story behind the character, story that slowly reveals itself to only those truly worthy.

    Emeric, Darien, Gabrielle

And yes I'd say Emeric is the only loveable faction leader among the three, Ayreen got the popularity because she is a she, and nobody remembers Jorunn

And queen Arzhela, King Bazrog, Skordo etc aren't bad

Generally speaking ESO have really really few recurring characters especially the political figures, so we have to accept the recurring ones whether we like them or not

Emeric is my favorite of the leaders as well (even though my in-game allegiance is to Ebon Heart). Though I may be a little bias on the issue since I"m a big fan of the actor who voices him. But Daggerfall has some of the best characters generally in my opinion with Darien probably being my favorite.

Ever since I finished Summerset and found that book, I always get sad when I read the Name Darien :(

Whenever I visit an inn, my first Mead is for him!

But honestly, I have 4 Names that always come to my mind when I think about ESO: Naryu, Razum-Dar, Darien and Stibbons.

Naryu because shes freaking hot, personality and looks, plus, I like dangerous women.

Razum-Dar is just a pretty cool guy, who I am sure would be up for some drinks after a long day

Darien takes a little time to get used to, but in the end, hes the first person my Characters would name if I had to choose someone to attack Hell itself with. Plus
I just loved him before the final mission in Summerset, when he literally just picked a random woman to have a dramatic goodbye with (She even said "What was that about?" when he left, so I am pretty sure he just picked her on the spot xD), because thats just the kind of guy he is, cant go to battle without leaving a woman you love behind, so...

And then Stibbons, because hes just the man. Seriously, every time we meet him, some woman wants do get naughty with him… I really need him to tell me his secrets...

Always liked Gabrielle and thought it was touching when she crops up in Anvil trying to research a way to bring back Darien. With the reveals about him in Summerset always felt it had the potential to have her grow as a character.

Personally, -- and I'm a guy, folks -- Darien's and Jakarn's behavior made me cringe. Although Darien showed some more development in Summerset that made me a little sad to see him go.

Raz is ore appealing to me. He's a character who made a decision to go his own way, admits to having gotten in trouble and survived, the wiser for it, and even now lives unapologetically on his own terms and takes what comes -- and does well for himself because he will do the right thing when it's important. The rest of the time, he has fun. Not a bad way to live. (You could gender-flip Raz and the character would be just as effective, really.)

Also, the Raz quest in Elsweyr is awesome. You get to see Raz on the hot seat, dealing with the consequences of his youthful indiscretions.

Of the leaders, Emeric is can at least be admired. He's practical, he's in a delicate political position, and he's tired but still carrying on. He's a character to feel some sympathy for.

Ayrenn could be handled better. We only get to interact with her in the present role as Queen, in the context of that role. As a leader, she's an idealist, and probably doomed to the fate of many historical idealistic leaders -- well-intentioned, but either to be undone in life or afterward by greedier, powerful adherents to the status quo. After all -- you try to clean up the Thalmor in ESO during the Veiled Heritance questline, but anyone who's played Skyrim knows how that ultimately works out. It would be much more fun to interact with both Ayrenn and Raz out-of-sight, to get more insight into her younger, wilder days. Obviously, Raz had an influence on her. As did an unnamed pirate captain -- a connection to Jimila, perhaps? Another character that deserves more development; in some ways, Jimila could be a female equivalent to Raz. (Raz hints at a history with Jimila, too... Maybe someday those two can settle down and have a litter of ja'khajiit, yes? :p )

It's harder to pick out any single character in the EP story, and I think that's just down to the way that story was written. It's a broader, sweeping approach that has many characters come and go in prominence as the storyline progresses. No singular character stands out as much, but the whole cast of characters are well-thought-out and fit in their roles to make a memorable story. The story is just bigger than any of them.

Interestingly, of all of the characters, Raz is the only one so far that has really developed a longstanding relationship with the player. (Particularly if you play the AD story) The leaders are all very nice and thankful to the player, but much like other NPC's, it's always "Oh, hello, thank you for all you've done, hero." For AD players, you meet Raz early, and he's kind of brusque and cavalier toward you. Then he offers to let you prove he can trust you, and serves as an occasional commander and spymaster with you as his prominent operative for the rest of the quest. When you meet him again in Summerset, he's treating you with respect as a near-equal. And in Elsweyr so far, you're his best hope to help him dig himself out of the hole he's dug for himself so that it would seem now you, the player, are important to him. By the end of Elsweyr, he's speaking to you like an equal after you've helped restore a certain Khajiit to power.

Naryu and Quen are two characters who I'd like to get similar additional story development in relation to the player. There's a lot more that could be done with them. Naryu is a fun character, full stop, and Quen is sweet and yet still a determined adventurer. (Better than Jakarn really. As a thief, Jakarn is a boastful screwup. Quen boasts half-heartedly, but she's determined to live up to it, and is really starting to by the end of the Thieves' Guild story.)

Of all characters, Abnur Tharn has surprised me. You start to see bits of Abnur Tharn the man, not just the shallow politician and professional snarker as the Esweyr story progresses. It's fun how his epic screwup has made him grudgingly a bit more humble and introduced ways to flesh out his character.

And moving forward, post-Elsweyr, I think a certain badass Khajiit ruler is going to be pretty high on people's lists.

Lady Laurant + Stibbons and Damien are pretty memorable characters.

Jakarn I get annoyed with, I always give the Orc the gem so he doesnt call me good looking (I dont swing that way bro). Naramo is boring and you're just a tool to him. Kaleen, Larissa and forget the other girls name hates you when you do what's right by banishing the artifact.

What ever happens to that Orc girl if you tell her to follow her heart and come with you abandoning her tribe. Maybe I missed her later on?

So yeah I would say DC has Laurant and Damien, mostly the latter.

Darien and Vanus Galerion are my two least favorite NPCs in the game. Emeric is my least favorite faction leader. He admires his wife for looking so skeletal and always just seems like a lazy callous pig. Jorunn is barely even a main NPC, he shows up randomly in like 3 quests and never develops a personality. Ayrenn is the only leader who seems like a genuinely earnest protagonist, but she's a bit of a Mary Sue.
