Treasure Chests.. why are they even here?, just garbage.

It could be such a fun thing, but they are essentially worthless, I'm in multiple big guilds and half of us destroy them. Can you have one of your ZOS analytical guys looked into that for a few minutes, and realize that hardly anyone bothers with them?
Would it be so crazy to put a Kuta, or Temper.. maybe a few thousand gold? Something actually worth it. I just did 5 in Elsweyr, a blue ring I get from killing regular stuff.. I think I have an unused character carrying well over 100 that I'm probably never going to do...
you guys are missing an opportunity to add something fun and meaningful. (almost as bad as my daily reward food and potions, because no one I know uses those either since they are weaker than the stuff I make myself)

✭✭✭✭✭Are you talking the CE maps that came with the new content? We get those with every chapter. And I think the adventurers pack.
Anyway, their purpose is to get you out exploring the new zone's out of the way places. They have never offered anything better than Generic Blue drops and a few other Mundane things.
If your talking regular treasure maps that get looted from things like Troves, then it all depends on if the zone drops something you want.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

✭The chest are fine, items found set pieces from the zone. Some depending on the zone are worth thousands of gold, and in high demand.
Malachite can be found in treasure chests or in Undaunted Exploration Supplies.
Paintings for houses can be found in treasure chests.Si vis pacem, para bellum17 -
jlmurra2✭✭✭✭✭In zones that have good equipment sets drop like Orsinium (Briarheart), Glenumbra (Werewolf), or Rivenspire (Necropotence), treasure hunting is much more exciting. Of course overall it would be nice to have an improvement.4 -

✭✭✭✭✭I find them very useful, as well as a bit of fun when you come across them. If you're a high level elite player I can appreciate they're pretty a waste of time so best left, but for others they provide useful gear (the Trainee gear in the starter zones are excellent for quite a few levels, certainly until you have researched enough traits to make your own) , or failing that they're useful for deconstruction.
I have no problem with them being improved, but for many players they - as with the daily login rewards - are likely to be far from worthless.2 -

✭✭Having recently rolled a new toon and playing him like a newby not help from any mains at all I can tell you the treasure chests are nice just for the armor alone. We've forgotten what it is like to be a new player I'm guilty of it also. As a new toon it's hard to get a full set of anything.9 -
VelimOrthic✭✭✭Same with big bosses. I know trials and dungeons have set pieces, but what about all the other quests. Some of the biggest bosses ones are portrayed - by the story writing at least - as being super powerful and important. To go through a long fight with all that dialogue and at the very end there's just a bunch of ordinary junk laying around is very anti-climactic. As is always having to get the best rewards - gold and one ordinary item - from the quest giver. "I'm back mom/dad. Did I do good? Can I have an ice cream now? Molag Bal only had 12g and this worthless scrap of metal".6

but CE maps just garbage, it's a mockery to receive that as "a bonus" for something bought with crowns or $$$.2 -

✭✭✭Treasure chests are fine as long as you aren't "farming" them. Which, incidentally is the reason for why they don't contain super valuable materials and thousands of gold. People already spend hours running a circuit around chest spawn points.
Shift your perspective OP. Think of them as less of a "main attraction" and more of a "nice surprise".2 -

✭Confused newcomer. Which treasure chests are we talking about? The ones from the treasure maps? Or the ones you come acrosss randomly in the landscape and you need to pick the lock on? A third form of chests I am not yet acquainted with?

Unless a set item jewelry is purple, or that necro has bis traits, a crap trait set item is decon-1-2k tops.

Treasure chests in the wild are too numerous.
They ought be more rare, and have better stuff in 'em.
And instead of just sitting around in the open, they ought look like someone was trying to hide or bury them.

Agreed. If they are in a zone that has desirable set pieces the treasure chests can be more valuable but overall they should increase the value of the chests..scaled to the type of chest of course. Like an advanced chest with a chance to have 10k gold (or whatever).0 -

yeah it is a leftover from way back when. before set pcs, generic gear was it. you were based on color, trait and the glyphs you put on it.1
