1) I firmly believe that players should never be punished for dev incompetence. I would extend this to ANY exploits, regardless of how obvious it is. I mean for God's sake we have a patch test server in this game, if you're so bad at your job that you allow content to release with such glaring problems after a testing period, then you deserve whatever issues come along with it. If I failed that hard at my job, on a consistent basis, I'd get fired, so why are the players getting punished?

2) It's not as if the loot was free. Some of those trash fights were harder than the actual bosses on normal mode, especially because the groups for the VSS chest runs were often ad-hoc with inexperienced tanks and bad healers. The only reason the runs were happening was because it was more loot at a faster rate than one could receive through normal means. The purple jewels vs blue jewels was nice, but the real draw was that every chest is guaranteed to drop set pieces on vet, which roughly doubles the number of chests that actually have set pieces.

I don't disagree with patching it out, but I think punishing players for taking advantage of it would be a little much.

I agree the chest thingie here is just extremly bad and lazy design from developers, but some exploits like double mundus I don't think should go unpunished. Only some people knew how it was done, and the advantage from it was huge. It also required more than just random to do it I believe.

Yesterday i was doing quest and level up while doing that, can i be banned ?

better ask to be sure, since it seems people tend to say everything is a exploit and the only gameplay is standing still doing nothing

Id say so, if you're using any exploit to makes acquiring something easier, (skipping bosses, killing bosses out of aggro range "AS" ahem*) then id say its ban-able. if its not the way acquiring gear is supposed to be then yeah

@Nemesis7884 Not on console. They have to schedule the maintenance ahead time for console so if ZOS wants to fix something for us, it will probably be like a couple weeks or a month? Maybe longer?

Yeah, you aren't using a 3rd party and is accessible without a glitch BUT....it's not what they intended and fixed it on PC so to me, it's taking advantage of a situation not intended by ZOS. It's really grey and I was hoping ZOS would clear this but all their silence is telling me is that, yeah, it's not encouraged to do it but they won't do anything to you if you do it.

The reason you aren't seeing a Forum Moderator make an official statement is because of the ramifications it might have. This is technically a legal decision, and in order to actually ban accounts for TOS violations they have to take the appropriate legal steps. Therefore, you won't see them say something official until they get all their "ducks in a row" for a lack of a better phrase.

The problem with this kind of gray area of game play, is that ZOS is not consistent. When people were flipping outpost in PvP, ZOS let it go on for awhile then came down on it only when it became overly used. The same with the Trial boss that could be exploited, ZOS didn't react until it became an openly known exploit. This bug/exploit/feature could end up the same way. ZOS may ignore it today and ban people for it tomorrow.

If you are intentionally abusing an unintended exploit in any way, be it skipping bosses to open chests, or glitching bosses to make killing them easier, it should count as a punishable offense. Sure, these bugs might be the result of a slight oversight or a *** up in the code, but I think shouting "hurr durr it's the devs' fault so we shouldn't be punished for it hurr durr" is unjust. We are all human, and we make mistakes, and especially when it comes to coding, those mistakes - especially the small ones that may have a big impact - are difficult to pinpoint.

Besides, me thinks that everyone saying "It's their fault!" or "Players shouldn't be punished for something the Devs did!" Are the ones using these exploits themselves.

You are fully aware of what you are doing when abusing these exploits, don't try to shift the blame.

@Blinkin8r I never chest farmed in any group content. And it was an entire week after the DLC release before I seen anyone ask for people for a nss run. My BF and I were wondering what was wrong with nss because everyone was asking for vet runs and we didn't know why. We figured it was easy af but we didn't run normal yet so we wanted to try normal for experience of mechanics. I feel that degrades the quality and integrity of the trial they released for the DLC. You can queue for nCOA so anyone who doesn't want to just chest run can get a group. When you try to get 11 other people who refuse to do normal when you can chest farm vet....like I said, that falls short of the integrity of the trial.

@Kuramas9tails Good points. However, they're not getting any skins, completions, perfected gear, achievements etc. It's kinda dumb to farm it on vet tbh unless you're trying to save some money on purple jewelry matts.

I have played since release and worked too hard on my toons to exploit or cheat in this game. Wow was very strict. Some of my best friends in ESO got perma banned 2 years ago. Be careful.

You do have to kill mobs, that’s how you open the door. If you don’t want players to get loot without killing a boss then put the loot on the boss instead of in a box. I’m a sneaky thief so if you hide treasure in a safe I’m going after it, simple as that.
