Ah. One of my more used characters is magplar but I don't PvP with him so any PvP concerns with the build is just zoom. Right over my head.

Makes sense. Ironically when I do a trial or dungeon every once in a blue moon I basically just ask if you want me to heal, tank or DPS and then simply change 1 skill. Doing PVE content on a Magplar is quite easy to fill any roll in a pinch. Maybe they aren’t A+ but they can B+ almost anything in the same gear.

All my “struggles” are PVP related.

It’s just funny that the exact same toon can go from totally useless to your worst nightmare based solely on how many people I can get to block for me.

Templar is #2 Magicka DPS at the moment, right behind Pet Sorc. They have been somewhere in the top 3 (with Sorc and Nightblade) since Murkmire (maybe even a patch before that). They were, and possibly still are, top DPS in Cloudrest, where their splash damage and high survivability are extremely useful.

I’ve mained Templar since launch. I can’t seem to put him down and level up any other character. Seriously, of 9 characters only my Templar and Warden are at 50.

It’s been a long, bumpy road, as the video made fun of, but we’re in a decent place now. I still miss Blinding Flashes, but Solar Barrage kind of made up for it.

Yeah, impale is objectively a better execute than radiant in terms of damage. Subjectively, since radiant is a channel, it's easier from a rotation standpoint. Templars execute rotation is about as easy as it gets.

For what it’s worth I can spam 3 mages wraths - or 5 probably - in the time it takes to do one radiant.

It’s way easier to execute 6 people in a Zerg with Mages Wrath than even one with Radiant. Please note I’ve killed 10s of thousands of people with Radiant and the simplicity and quickness of MW makes Radiant pale in comparison.

I know you have been gone for a bit, but this is no longer true. They shortened the channel time of radiant. In the time you can LA weave radiant, you weave 2 of any of the insta cast executes (or any instant cast abiity for that matter). Also, mages wrath is not making peoples bars at this point in PVP, which would have been a mindblowing statement a year ago. Dodge, Dodge, Dodge...

I literally did this last night. Haha. Tried out my new Magsorc in PVP. Had some initial struggles and then decided to see if I could just blindly throw MWs into a crowd. I filled up a kill 40 in minutes. It totally worked.

Radiant does still work, and with the reduced cast time you’re right, it is easier than ever. Still you still need to maintain line of sight and there is a huge glowing beam that makes you a target. MW essentially comes out of nowhere.

Legitimately, I was laughably frying people with 1 button. It was funny.

Edit - I decided to try it because while leveling that’s what I would do at dolmens. Just forget any type of rotation or skilled gameplay and spam MW. Worked like a charm. I was kill stealing everything. Worked exactly the same on the Alesia Bridge into the oncoming yellow hoard.

    Radiant has many issues:

    1. it's channeled skill
    2. AOE dmg so easily mitigated with 2 CP trees and evasion
    3. you're stuck in the animation for 1 sec making you vulnerable
    4. the animation often bugs, you still cast the full duration of 1 sec even if the enemy is long time dead
    5. The dmg do not work against shields
    6. the dmg are too low compared to impale for example

its hard to not blame your tools when you have given tools with a flaw, defect so it doesnt matter how mastered you are at your job, you will never be 100% efficient if you can if you have defected tools

Yeah, blindly throwing Mages Wrath into a crowd of pugs is still going to get kills. Sorc was, is, and likely always will be, the best pug nuking class there is.

That said, it has become very ineffective against securing a KB against a good player, especially if they are stam. A lot of sorcs are opting for something else to apply pressure as opposed to execute burst. Also, Non-pet sorc is basically a watered down version of its former self. 1 pet is virtually a requirement for open world, and a lot of people run 2. It makes bar space very tight.

But yes, if you just want to stand back and fish for KBs against potatoes, Mages Wrath is tough to beat.

Gotcha, yeah, I agree with that 100%. It’s a potato masher absolutely. I also had 1 pet running as you said. I didn’t think the first time out the shop I should be actively searching hard for good players to 1 on 1.

As I said I had some “initial struggles” which can be translated to “I was trying to bite off more than I can chew in fights I never should have even attempted” so I took a deep breath and figured I’d see if potato smashing was possible. It absolutely was.

    We’re pretty much in agreement.

The one thing that should not be discounted though is the actual bright beam. It may as well put a bullseye on your chest in a big fight. MW does not have that drawback which is something that is important but wouldn’t show up on a spreadsheet.

In the other hand templar is at best a botheal. Oh no guess what sorc is better at healing too Twilight Matriarch heals more than Breath of Life lol

    Summon Twilight Matriarch
Call on Azura to send a twilight matriarch to fight at your side. The twilight matriarch’s attacks deal 668 Shock Damage plus an additional 15% damage.
Once summoned, you can activate the twilight matriarch's special ability, causing it to heal the matriarch and up to 2 other friendly targets for 1671 Health.
The twilight matriarch remains until it is killed or unsummoned.

Just as said in the video, only pothead keep playing templar. Stop beying a pothead switch to sorc or nightblade.

You need to seek help immediately if you think a Sorc can heal as well as a Templar, just because of a single skill. Templar is unequivocally the best healing class in the game, bar none.

Templar is also near the top in global DPS results. So its an excellent DPS.

Honestly it is funny but frustrating seeing people post that are so misguided.

Doesn't matter the only truth is that templar is really bad. In PvP it's absolutely trash. Now it's useless as class.

Nightbalde and Sorc are the only viable class in pvp now thanks to Gillamtherogue and Alcast. Templar does not have defenders, so deal with it.
