Then why would I bother doing the dungeon in vet mode?

If the content is so bad that you have to be bribed into doing it, what is the point of even having that content?

    Thats a silly answer.

Getting neat drops is PART of the experience. A dungeon can be both fun, and rewarding, it doesn't have to exclude either. The more difficult the dungeon the more satisfying the reward. I think some people just don't get that, but shockingly, its one of the most important parts of an RPG.

Whether it’s trials, dungeons or arenas I use same rule. If you can’t do the content, you don’t need the helm. If vCoS is a nightmare or something you dread, you are not in a position where Velidreth will do you much good. If you only need it for PvP, get it from vendor when up.

You and anyone else who believes this overlooks other reasons people use sets. Have you heard of people who... you know... play this game for FUN? Who are not into the competitive junk and just want something because it has a cool visual effect or complements their character concept? Sorry, but these people need stuff too.

I know someone who RPs a WW. He wanted the Sable Man Beast skin, so got me and two others to join him for vMHK. We are a no death away (and not too far from achieving that) from challenger. He wanted (key word is wanted) something to complete his look and feel and put the effort in to get it. In doing so he met three new people who he gets on with, spurred me and one of the others into starting a guild and has become a significantly better DPS than when he found us. The game is built on DOING content as is the community. Take away the incentives for content and people will give up on it.

I would never have pushed myself through that first vSCP clear without the promise of Zaan at the end. I was a bad DPS who was inexperienced. In the process I improved, found my current raid guild and got to know great players I run with almost daily. All because I wanted gear. If someone wants something to complete a look or feel, rarely is there something holding them back from getting it. If there is a reason they can’t competitively play like disability then a lot of people in guilds would be willing to carry. If not then it provides the incentive to push yourself and improve. If at the end you didn’t enjoy it but got a shiny new monster helm, then congrats. You got a shiny new monster helm and an awareness of whether it is worth it in future or not. If you did you may have met new friends and become a bigger part of the community.

You don’t have to be competitive to have gear, but if you want it you should go after it. No one ‘needs’ the monster helms, we all WANT them. In the words of our Lord and Saviour John Mulaney, ‘you want it, go get it’.

What they really need is a dungeon token system so you can save tokens then buy the item you want after running the dungeon so many times.

Completing the dungeon you 1 token for an example. The normal could give you .5 of a token and the head pieces could cost 20 tokens. Still a chance to drop the right head peice after each vet run.
