Maybe....just maybe PVP was a stupid idea for a Elder Scrolls game, and this is like some Karmic pimp slap?

    Just sayin.

Rich made it clear in his letter how great everything in ESO is! :D

And I quoted him in some post, tagged him too, so he may see, if he takes time, what I do think of him being so oblivious of reality. Denial is a serious condition that requires professional help.

Elsewyr is a laggy mess . Getting 10fps on Xbox eu this morning. It kicked about 30
People out in zone this morning and rolled back a load of ppl
Right now I’m in vet sunspire waiting for teammates and getting about 20fps. Very jumpy . If it Carry’s on like this I’m off to play something else

    Tbh it’s more then Akami.

    - mega servers. Having everyone everywhere connecting to the exact same server will cause traffic.

Solution: build actual servers, 2 for EU (one in the east Europe 1 in the west) 2 for NA (one on the east one on the west)

    Akami being permanently on

Solution:There are a minority serious DDosing and those mostly target at specific intervals and are rather obvious with the times they generally attack. I don’t think it would be harmful to let this not be switched on outside peak moments such as expansion launches.

    Big zergs and world pvp

Solution: If the problem extends you could look at creating several different cryodills and actually limiting the player masses per faction who’s allowed in to each phase.

These three things would immensely fix server issues, but they do come with the compromise this will have negative effects on players. Here’s why.

They will devide the playerbase, imagine suddenly only being able to play with 1/3 of the playerbase ur used to. This would split guilds up, your friendships up, the people you pvp with. This would put a hard devide between you and others.

It would restrict pvp, less players per instance means less small skirmishes, less big fights and less players overall in one given time.

The solution to this problem though is there. Create Arena battlegrounds or the ability to create your own custom battlegrounds. Where the community can set up small skirmish pvp within a instance,

I’m guessing Zos is holding back because they don’t wanna devide the population or rebuild a megaservers into several servers. But I don’t really know which would be more harmful to the game.

Players are simply leaving the game even many would still like to play, if things would have been actually done as told by Zenimax in many cases, now they don't seem to even bother doing anything to keep their paying customers playing or even much care. Many new players are still coming all the time so why bother, it's just all about business after all.

They have their '13.5 million copies sold' number.

Notice they wont ever tell you how many distinct log-in identities are accessed.
Or how many are not accessed for months at a time.
Or don't get accessed for years starting a month or 2 after purchase.

    o:)

We know the population is high because we can see the fact peak hours cause lag, if the game had a small population these lag problems will actually fix themselves :p this is the part that’s not being understood.

There’s too many people playing at one time at areas of the day for a megaservers to cope. They need to end the megaservers. They just are not good at sustaining large playerbases.

There’s a reason why most MMORPGs remain on the old server devided mmorpg then this.

But no not 13.5 million player big. But you are also missing.

11 million bought Somerset, and while those include people who bought more then one copy of the game, it doesn’t include the players who play but haven’t bought Somerset.

It’s now a DLC no new player will buy Somerset. Because they no longer need to.

Maybe 70% of this game buys the expansions that come out? But that leaves 30% of the playerbase not accounted for by expansion sales .

This is what is hurting the game, Zos clearly by entire structure did not think this game would get big, they clearly expected a smaller playerbase so built things like megaservers to make a smaller playerbase feel like a big playerbase.

But now they have millions of players and can’t cope and don’t seem to be making any decision on how to fix it.

Good news is classic WoW should fix this games issues Kappa

Because of Eso’s model, where expansions aren’t required to play even in the slightest. There are more players then expansion sales. Even if we are restricted to one sale per account and ur account was on all 3 platforms. You could not possibly find out how many play the game because not everyone buys expansions.

Then with a optional sub again, it wouldn’t tell us how many play the game without a sub

I do believe eso playerbase is in the millions. And if it wasn’t we wouldn’t have the problems we do.

Because the entire game wasn't originally designed around the Three Banners War, something that engulfs all of Tamriel. How silly that player work there way through all the stories surrounding that and actually participate in such a historical event. I mean really, who thinks of Elder Scrolls and thinks of conflict? pfft...

Yeah, I'm convinced that the only permanent solution is throwin out the entire netcode of ESO and write a new one from scratch. However I doubt that ZOS has either the manpower, the time or the money to do that.

    I understand the above.

My point was that there are a lot fewer than 13.5 million active players, regardless of the number of copies sold.

Copies sold is a maximum number, spread across 3 platforms, and US/EU servers, as well as people playing at off hours rather than prime time.

Server load on any server is therefor mitigated by the above to much lower numbers.

And yet they didn't plan for, and clearly can't handle, the numbers of actually active players.

    Why not?

And more importantly, why not yet?
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

I never play PVP but I can't play after 8 am in the weekend. I've got 999+ ping and get disconnected all the time.

I started the game in 2014 and I had 100 ping at the beginning. Now I have to wake up at 6 am if I want to play a little. I'm ESO+.

Xbox NA is running good for me — I rarely experience what people are talking about. I have the occasional can’t mount bug, and in populated areas very rarely frame become nonexistent for about 4 seconds. Mostly play what was Vivec NA. But I have a really good connection, hardwired, really good router with maybe 1 other device connected to it. And great internet.

Yeah look I'm sick and tired of complaining asking developers where the hell our broken promises are.

I'm still logging on to see 300-350+ ping and have absolute no desire to even try your Elsewyr chapter in this state.

I'm just going to be straight forward and ask, are we going to at the very LEAST see 200-250 ping overe 300-350+? Just a simple yes or no answer from an admin or developer please. Sick and tired of hearing "we're going to do this and that blah blah f-ing blah". WILL THERE or WILL THERE NOT be server stability implemented soon? I'm currently not playing the game PURELY because of the ping. I'm asking for an answer to make my decision final on whether or not to uninstall the game, simple as that. I have had enough of crappy server stability that is incapable of providing people out of NA with at least HALF decent ping.

You are either getting rid of Akamai or you are keeping it and making false claims that it is not the cause of the ping. Which one is it? I am f-ing fed up, subscription has already been cancelled.

I was cracking up when Matt announced that more servers had been added to help with the server load.
