Who else hate questing?

When they will create an MMO without questing??
Of course is a huge improvement ESO style over WOW "bring me 10 drops of something"... but i hate questing anyway... i rarely read something anymore... most of the stories are boring and heavy on dialogues.

I always say, if i want to read i buy a book, if i want to watch films i go to the movies (Dragon age series with a cutscene every 5 seconds).
I wanna play... just it...
Look to skyrim example: i can explore and, when i see a keep i.e., i can have an strategic approach, think, experiment, test my strength, my build, take my time and have fun... but questing isnt fun, for me is just one more heritage from old rpg and classic mmos. Games need to evolve.

I will hope for the next 50 years for an ESO style game heavy on exploration, character progression (build), experimentation and strategic thinking. With no silly stories, tons of dialogues, "talk to someone", "bring me something", "enter somewhere", etc...

"Kill the bandit leader" type are enough tho.
Meanwhile, i rush quests and take my time with world exploration.

You see, im not lazy to read and follow a storytelling, its just not interesting for me. Not at all. I prefer to burn my brains to think strategically on how to clean a difficult dungeon solo, or how to build a good character, or to find hidden secrets.

I bet theres people who think like me.

I agree with you but people (especially younger ones) lack imagination and get bored too easily.

There have been a number of games over the years that tried that format and they just turn into grindfests and eventually break down quickly. Anyone remember Shadowbane?

There are other games of the kind you describe, try EQ. For a game that has "Quest" in the title it has very little in the way of questing even today, and most if not all of it can be avoided.

Mind you, there's a huge amount you can complete and level through in ESO without undertaking any quests. You can explore and fight to your heart's content as well as doing crafting and PvP etc. It's generally unreasonable, however, to play a traditional style MMORPG and not expect plenty of questing, you just need to find other - perhaps more PvP-oriented - online titles that are better suited to you or stick to strategy games rather than RPGs if that's more your thing. Quest-based games tend to have, well, quests.

I disagree with you completely. There are plenty of MMOs, usually Asian in origin, for that kind of thinking. The Elder Scrolls is an IP known for it’s storytelling.

If this is what you like, try the mobile game Elder Scrolls Blades, it’s just a dungeon crawler with no substance, no clever writing and no personality.

You can literally never quest in ESO if you dont want to.

Or if you want to you may do so.

    That's a win win situation

But who forces you to quest? Yes there are grindy activities for some tasty skill lines, but they are more about exploration then questing, you may skip all dialogues without risk to face fate-deciding question in the end of the dialog.

    Me!

I love the stories but they talk super slow. Also dysnc of text dialogue right next to mouth.

The rewards are trashy with 1 good one in entire zone maybe.

The gameplay is not enaging for most part. Not that's it is too easy, it's just isn't fun. I remember doing all quests in fable. Talked to every NPC. I would rather pug vmol then quest in ESO.

Long term players actually take pity on you when you say got to go questing for housing.

Also most of quests are mentally unfulfilling. Like why would I desire it,?

I heard it has gotten better in dlc stories but the strong points still exist.

I play both ESO and Warframe.

Of the two, Warframe seems closer to what you want. There are very minimal story quests and much of the game is played like "Here's an objective. Kill everything on the way to the objective. Complete the objective. Kill everything on the way out." The real fun with that sort of basic framework is changing your build and deciding how you want to approach that objective, and there are lots of available tools for different jobs.

ESO, on the other hand, feeds the part of me that enjoys the single player TES games. Quests, and small stories even in the not quest centric locations that all come together to fuel the story of my character. Sorry, I don't look to the TES games for stellar gameplay, and I see story as the reward for the exploration.

I understand most of what you guys replied, but you see, i am in a bit of a crossroad here:

    1. i dont like asian style games, i like eastern ones (culture, music, architecture, everything)
    2. i hate pvp... as i said, i like strategic approach to pve content... i did my raid time on wow from 2008 to 2012, and i am done with that... now i am good with solo pve.
    3. i am a completionist... i hate questing, but i hate more to see a map not completed
    4. unlike some of you understand, i do like lore, and TES series are one of the best in it, i play since oblivion... i just dont like linear questing with bunch of reading and generic storylines.
    5. i am only saying that it is possible to create a game that unite a huge world, multiplayer, huge lore, exploration/looting, good itemization system, freedom, secrets/puzzling (who remember Myst series?) and a huge character progression system. Thats all.

Quests become an bore if you do them a lots of times just for skill points or xp.
Loved Elsweyr quests, they tended to be either funny or lore defining.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

I love new stories. Most quest lines I have gone through at least twice. But I will say that after taking my time once, I am usually clicking my way through most of the questing. Except for my favorite parts, I slow down for those bits that even after 50 times are still ones I want to experience the moments.

I couldn't disagree with you more, I love the storytelling and quests in ESO (even if the gameplay could be touched up on them).

But I still hope you do find a game like that for you, or that one is made if none currently hit the mark for you.

I appreciate TES lore and the landscapes are beautiful, but yeah questing is beyond mindless. Errand boy. If I need to quest I slot rapids and hammer through all dialog without hearing a word. Exploration in Skyrim was fun but it's lackluster here. Leveling the psijic line might be the worst thing I've done in this game. I don't know what would make it better I'm simply just agreeing with the op.

I love the quests in ESO. Most are as well written as single player RPGs. That said, I have been playing since launch and have leveled several alts without touching any of the main or almost any of the side quests via exploration for skyshards, public dungeon events, daily dungeon and BG. Questing is actually about the slowest way to level in ESO and should only be done for the fun of the story.

I don't know why, but something about your Opening Post made my head start spinning.

Also, you're talking as if you can't already take your character and wander off in to a direction and stumble upon locales and delves to complete. All without the need of completing a single quest.

I 'unno. Maybe there's something wrong with your playstyle.

This is a questing game. Nobody's else's problem if you don't like that. Sounds like you want a shooter instead of an RPG. The good news is that there are still some low budget games out there that cater to that sort of thing. Hope that you find whatever it is that you seek.

GW2 seems like a good mmo for you to try. You don't need to quest, leveled my necro just from crafting in the city, and another from pvp. Good puzzles, secret areas, public events, etc...
