Helmet disappearing

Hi,

Whatever helmet I am wearing seems to be disappearing when I turn on the Hide Helmet option at the Gameplay settings. It doesn't disappear at once, usually after some time. It happenned with different helmets, so I dont believe it's a specific item bug, more like a problem with the "hide helmet" option.

Could you please take a look?

Crafted helmets sometimes disappear when you wear them while doing other crafting activities.

Try removing your helmet before you craft.

It also happened with helmets that were not crafted.... unfortunately!

What @Harkrider is referring to also applies to helmets that are quest rewards or loot drops. Any helmet can dissapear when you are crafting, because it has a chance of getting deconstructed automatically. The safest thing right now is to take off your head slot tiem before doing any crafting.

Yup I had it eat my Warlock set helm, it can eat any helm, very bad bug.

Happened to me too, ate twoi fracted helmet and then my new lion guard helmet I got as a quest reward. Reported it as a bug, hope they can restore the item.

Yeah it keeps happening to me. Did not know it was when you were crafting that did it. Thanks now i know to remove it before hand hope they fix this, very bad bug.

Hapenned again last night when I forgot to remove my helmet before crafting. Very annoying, cant keep buying new helmets, especially on a such a stingy environment!

Only happens to my characters when I fail to improve a item and I am wearing a helmet. Never had it disappear during any other crafting activity.

I've had this happen a couple of times too... At first I thought I'd accidentally deconstructed it (I usually deconstruct my old armour to get mats), but pretty certain now I've hit this bug.

If you use the remove helmet option then make sure you first remove your helmet before toggling it on and off as it can make your helmet disappear.

The Warlock set helm I was wearing just disappeared while I was deconning other gear. I am still waiting for ZOS to restore the 70 items that disappeared from my bank 11 days ago, and now this....

as far as i know they dont randomly disappear, but sometimes do when you press r while no item is in the slot
atleast thats how i lost 3 helmets
edit: while deconstructing obviously

I have lost 3 helmets. I have been researching traits, not from helmets, and they have cooldowns so I can't research something by accident while I'm already researching, and refining mats like ore into bars or raw jute into jute. Next thing I know my helmet just vanishes. I have not deconstructed anything recently, so that's not it.
Edit: I do have the "hide helmet" option turned on, but I'm pretty sure the first time this happened it was off.

This happened to me too, so I'm glad to know I'm not going insane.

Because I couldn't figure out why my character had no helmet equipped when I logged in today.

Removing your helmet first does not protect you from this, either. I had a very nice blue helmet tonight and I took it off first before deconstructing some other armor and sure enough, when I opened inventory, it was gone.

This is killing the smithing perk...why waste time leveling the skill and making good stuff when it's just going to disappear.
