Hello! We have no plans on implementing spears, but we have talked off and on about cool ways to do the one hand magic/one hand weapon thing. That's not on our roadmap anywhere, but we have been brainstorming.
There are so many cool things we could do! Seriously, we love these ideas too, but it all comes down to a matter of time and priorities.
1. damage scaling
2. skill lines
3. weapon types
1. I imagine one of the issues would be the scaling of attacks based on resource, damage type, critical would be tricky. Maybe have both weapons scale of w/e is the max stat like certain abilities already in game (flames of oblivion, etc...). There's also figuring which weapon fires off attacks at which range (melee weapons certain meter range 1-6 meters, spell/1h crossbow (..

..) fires from 6-30 meters, something like that.
2. This would be trickier. I see a few options
- A.) new skill line just for it. For me part of the satisfaction of using this combination would be versatility, i would rather something else.
- B.) combined skill lines. Something like you can use most destruction staff skills, and most 1h + shield skills (redded out ones like "shield bash: requires a shield equipped") things like this. Maybe altered morphs of like shield wall etc to not need a shield equipped.
3. 1 handed magicka weapons, crossbows
- A.) Wands, Gloves, Tombs, Runes. Not sure how these would implemented without some sort of duel wielding spell skills. Maybe just some restoration staff one handers and some destruction one handers with similar restrictions to one handed + shield abilities needed a shield or to have a 2h staff or dw of the same types equipped.
- B.) Crossbows. Creating a more dynamic equipment option for weapons would flow well into one handed ranged weapons like crossbows. A 2h crossbow might use the same skill line as Bow but have the accuracy passive give a different bonus (critical damage, penetration, damage done %) instead of crit chance. The duel wield cross bows might not need another skill line. The duel wield skill line might work but figuring out the balance of the weapon damage of bows and a very large range increase might be challenging, but so is making an entire new skill line. If it is to be a modified duel wield line then new animations and descriptive text would be needed. Twin slashes turns into twin attacks/shots, etc.
any other ideas are welcome, just had some brainstorming myself going and wanted to create a recent community topic.
