Goodbye PvP Event

Monday nights was casual PvP night in our guild. Come on at 8pm UK time, collect 25k AP, change characters if you have more than one in this week's faction, have a bit of fun. PvP isn't as terrible as you think it is, guys. Every week a different faction.

Well, I just cancelled that. PvP just became terrible. It's called faction lock, and we have to exclude Covenant from our cycle because there are not enough 30 day camapigns. You only get 10 transmute stones from a 7 day campaign, so you have to do some serious pvp to get 40 stones on that. 100k AP for 40 stones vs 25k for 50.

Event cancelled as of now.

So the issue is farming?
There are many many threads like this, transmute crystals are not something you are supposed to obtain this easy.

He did adapt. He adapted right out of his old routine. Yes, faction lock can be good in many ways, but the story here is that in this situation, it's not all positive.

Maybe you think getting 25 AP is easy. You are the problem. You just ruined a fun guild evening. And everyone like you.
I tried going in on the CP campaign and hated every minute of it. I don't like playing solo. I HATE PLAYING WITH ARROGANT SODS and this game is too full of them.

You may wear the hat, as it seems to fit. Why can't we have some casual PvP, eh????

I did not join this game to play hardcore PvP and I don't know why it keeps being nerfed to satisfy the hardcore PvP players. Turn PvP into a separate game, like Guild Wars original did. With separate skills and separate armour.

So... you say you play in Cyrodiil to "have a bit of fun", but then your biggest complaint is that you are missing out on some rewards? That's funny, most of the faction-floppers claim the rewards are trivial and irrelevant.

Whining about transmutation stones makes me cringe.. they are so easy to get without this. I mean how many do you really need? Usually I am searching for things to transmute.

If I'm forced to go into Cyrodiil, I want to go with a guild group and have some fun.
I don't even like killing people. I prefer to take some resources from the NPCs. I don't want to spend hours in Cyrodiil, I didn't buy the game for that. It's a necessary evil and now it's a completely hateful evil, so much so I don't even want to play tonight.

The way to get transmute stones is PvP, like it or not. You can get them from doing random normal dungeons and pledges, but you get like one in a bag. Looks like it's back to getting stuff with perfect traits and to oblivion with the transmute stations.

Sotha Sil was a nice friendly place to play. This kaalwhatevershitplace is horrible beyond belief. It's for hardcore players. And the reaction from this forum just proves I'm not welcome there.

So cheers. I won't be bothering anyone with PvP anymore.

No. The issue is they can't faction flop to the winning side anymore to get their 25K AP.

I'm one of those poor souls who play solo in pvp since early beta, sometimes i join a group and there is max 8 people in it.
The point here is not how you play, yes solo leeching i can get up to 60-80k ap per hour but a long time have passed since i've done that.

Transmute crystals is a sort of end game currency, you need to earn it and it was too easy to obtain them in pvp (while in pve was fairly balanced), people was simply joining a campaign, farm some ap and get to tier one, bum free crystals at the end of the month, it was not as intended.

Since they cannot put a dump system in it and since at the moment the currency is used only for one specific activity the easy solution was to limitate the ways to get them.

While faction lock can be a bad solution, people like me cannot switch to find better fights, and the lag is the same as usual i believe Zos find a quick way to eliminate some extra transmute crystals from the game and this is only beneficial for the system itself, right now it is as intended an end game currency quite hard to obtain.

You think that is not a problem for me?
In half a day i was able to obtain tier one with 10 charachters and at the end of the month collect 500 "free" Transmute crystals, i was more than happy to not have to farm dungeons for gear.

Don't be so entitled, the problem is not only in your little guild, we all have some problems with it, and we all have to adapt.

You're not the only ones. Looks like Covenant got cut from a lot of schedules. I don't see how I'm going to level my main anymore, I don't group with strangers and I can't ask my guild to commit to their lowbies/toons they just play casually for an entire month just so I get some play time in, like we'd do before.

I think the account should be PvP - faction locked. Ppl who fight for the alliances are tired looking at a group running near a player of the opposing alliance not attacking him cuz he is "friendly". I had to stop resing all players who are not in my group - cuz they could be opposing alliance spies or just some players, doing PvP for farm. So pls ZoS make the rule - 1 account = 1 alliance, to make sure there is no cooperation with the enemy.

You're not the only ones. Looks like Covenant got cut from a lot of schedules. OP's signature explains a lot. Everyone claims the unlocked 7 day campaign is "dead", you don't want to play against other players. Sound like the 7 day "dead" campaign is exactly for you. There's your solution.

I don't understand what the problem is. The only difference is that now you'll have to do a monthly rotation instead of a weekly one, otherwise everything is exactly the same as before. Why are you freaking out?

It's a game, only that, and you can find your fun and you gems and your kills and everything in some other ways. How hard it is to adapt to changes in a MMO? It's the nature of the beast.

Some people enjoy farming as a guild event. Its a game we play for fun

I've never played a 30-day campaign, so I have no idea how the rewards compare to those from a 7-day campaign.

I'd never heard of faction-jumping before the recent decision to faction-lock the 30-day campaigns, but leave it to everyone to figure out a way to "work the system." I'm not judging that as a good or bad thing, just noting that it's something we all do-- if not with AvA campaigns in ESO (which I don't do), then with other things, like buying a $50 gift card from a restaurant that you plan to use for yourself just so you can get a free $5 gift card as a thank you for buying the $50 card, or buying gift cards for yourself at a grocery store just so you can get double the regular fuel points, etc. Maybe you don't "work the system" (or, if you prefer, "abuse the system") for A, or B, or even C, but I'm willing to bet there's a D out there somewhere that you like to work so you can reap the rewards.

Companies don't usually care about this sort of thing, because they like getting the extra sales that these sorts of incentives bring in. I might be wrong, but I doubt that ZOS saw faction-jumping as an issue until players started complaining about it being a "major problem." Shoot, ZOS gives away AP and TV stones for free with the daily rewards! Maybe players who log in every day just so they can claim all the free daily rewards are "abusing the system"? No, wait, ZOS is trying to encourage us all to do that, so that can't be right.

Like @IcyWaffles, I eventually have to look for stuff to transmute because I've got several containers that "might" contain as many as 25 transmute crystals and I've already got 85 or whatever-- so I go transmute something I hadn't really needed to, then open the containers that were hogging up my inventory slots to find... 4 crystals in each one.

Oh, well.

I feel for you, @cyberjanet, but maybe there's a way you can adjust the weekly event to fit the "new system"? For example, maybe two factions can play 30-day campaigns in a given 30-day period, and the third faction can play four weeks of 7-day campaigns; then for the next 30-day period, rotate the factions so a different faction plays four weeks of 7-day campaigns.

This is a genuine issue with faction lock, actually. When One Tamriel was implemented we were all encouraged to create characters in different alliances and to make friends who mained other alliances and to broaden our horizons and enjoy the game looking past just factions. This was highly encouraged.

Now, after people have spent actual money on characters of all factions, have developed communities that depend on multi-faction, and have been able to play with their communities and do things like this event, they're being forced away from these things.

I don't care about so-and-so getting 1vX'd, I don't care about so-and-so getting trolled (trolling happened pre-faction locks, it happens by trolls in the same exact faction as well), I care about communities being split by this sudden, and ridiculously strict rule placed on a game that has encouraged the opposite for years now. If factions had been encouraged from the start, and if there was some sort of valid reward for being faction loyal, this would be a different story. But the reality is that that isn't the case, and now there's an even bigger divide in not only the PvP community, but also in the interest of PvE players coming into PvP.

ZoS encouraged communities to be created, and they were, and now ZoS is ripping them apart. It's extremely unfair. It really is.

There are a couple of things you (and your guild) could do:

1. Pick 2 factions each month and rotate. so first month is AD/DC, second month is DC/EP, third month is EP/AD.
2. Go for 100k AP per character to get the reward box on top of the stones. The jewelry sells well.
3. Put your heads together and come up with a plan that works for you and your guild

Since you already dismissed the 7-day campaign, I'm not going to suggest that, but I hope you reconsider it in the future.

Remember that AP can also be used to buy motif pages to sell for gold.

Their preferences don't matter at all in this discussion, they made a false claim as the premise of their argument. They have an option available to them that allows them to continue their event as it's been, they don't want to take it, they want to force a change that harms gameplay and other players. They torpedoed their own argument with that.

Love hearing "adapt"
Pvp in eso needs to be overhauled... Curently stale husk of a mode that zos pays zero attention too.
There is zero competition, zero reward, zero group initiative... Really zero reason to keep getting dc'd from it

Sad really, if they also stole the server/wvw set up from gw2, maybe it wont be a dead game style in eso..... But to late now i guess
