There's a billion threads in the GW2 subreddit about this exact thing happening. Seems like a general MMO problem.

After i tanked a dungeon (maybe a little slow, because waiting npc`s RP to continue with quest dialog) i got kicked on the last boss, because i do kite him when he turn me to skeleton.
I didnt need to, i admit, not on normal atleast. But i was bored and i do run / in circle/ stil leting dps to damage him. This happens for like 10 seconds total.
Before they kick me i do menaged to turn my quest and even say bye and leave the grp. Kick msg i noticed after...
So guys ? What the heck become with the comunity ? Ppl dont even answer greetins in dungeons. Get buthurted from one mistake. And play like robots.
I dont post this because i`m ofended or smth. No. I rly wonder when ppl turn so selfish. I do expirienced lots of vote kick votes before, just because someone did a mistake or get dcd for like 1 minute. I always vote no. This remind me so much of WoW. Maybe ppl are right. Maybe lots of wow players join eso last days.

I dont blame te person who start vote. Not more that i blame other 2 members. Maybe they are friends, i dont care. But man, are you rly that low ?:)
To kick sm1 who dont pin a boss and let you dps without need to move. And this on the last boss ? Knowing that guys is for 1st time there and have quest to turn ?
Losing hope of the humanity because ppl like you.

My main is a tank, I can see why they are annoyed with you, the getting turned into a skeleton mechanic usually targets the tank your job is to keep aggro on you, during that boss, so that when you get changed back its more likely the boss will target you with the mechanic again, instead of the healer or one of the DPS.

Tanks that kite enemies/bosses tend to be less popular with groups, most want a sword and board tank who will keep the boss in one spot or move in a specific pattern to avoid instant kill ability's.

But they did let you turn in the quest, don't really see that as toxic and kicking you at that point is meaningless, you would have left the group on your own anyway.

Most of the time they will all just leave, unless you mention your doing the quest right at the start of the dungeon. More often than not it will be one of the DPS who will get kicked, good DPS can carry a less skilled healer/tank, bad DPS equal the tank and healer abandoning the group.

As for talking in chat the most you will get out of most people is some variation of Hi, HS(heavy sack) Chest, brb, after set pieces or if its vet: after monster helm/specific weight/motif

Some groups are more social and will chat but most just want to get the dungeon done and get on with other stuff. Had a guy fall to his death 3 times during vaults of madness we all had a good chat and laugh about that.

what happen to the community ? ,theres always bad apple, just because you have some bad experience with some people, its not right to outright generalize the community as turn into crap, i personally most of the time pug V dungeons and trial, and so far so good, of course i met some rude people, but its in minority, while most of time (normal dungeon) we not talk at all

Is not like a make drama of it mate. And trust me, its not "just because i had bad expirience with some ppl". I dont say that the majority of the cominity is bad. Even that kick dont mean that ppl are bad. Is more like selfish. "k, you did your job, go away" There are atleast 3 topics in the forum related to similar things. No greeting, kicking right away if person need to go afk for few minutes etc.
Anyway, game become better. Stil sad that some players act like real donkeys.

I don't see what the problem is here. Despite your, uh, unconventional tanking style they nevertheless let you complete the dungeon and even gave you enough time to turn in the quest. How is it toxic?

Maybe they were a premade group and wanted to queue for another dungeon right away without disbanding?

    You kidding right ?

Dude :D I start kite adds around boss AFTER he turn me to skellie :)
They had zero reason te get anoyed of me. Zero but one. I have quest to do in dungeon and they dont.
I can recal that healer /i remember he was argonian/ turn back 2 times to check me/even if i soloed the mobs/ once on the shore/ and before last boss/ where you need to kill rest of the pirates. Rest 2 of the party /the dpsers/ constantly rushed forward and i can tell they wasnt pleased of my " delay"
As i said i leaved grp after i said bye and thanks and THEN kick msg pop in zone chat. This mean one can voted me and rest press yes because they see that i already leaved grp. I like this version more. Better 1 bad person than 3.

I'd feel for ya.. but been there, had that happen.. well not exactly same, but kicked. Of course, I had looked for a lower level group, made sure I was in the right Que... Didn't get kicked for lack of DPS, got kicked for being slow..errr yeah. Shrugged my shoulders and told the next group that my character was slow and they didn't take off like bat's out of Oblivion!

Helped win 3 rounds of keep the ball ..or whatever it was...

btw, I don't play with my headset on, and I don't always notice the chat box is scrolling. Other than right in the middle of a fight, I always say Hey...

Try having someone fuss at you because they want to group and you say no.. repeatedly. I even changed my crafter's name, to have crafter in it, that way ..hopefully.. people will stop asking!
Life is about the journey...cause it all ends the same

does this really mean they kicked you or that one person initiated a vote to kick you which is a difference?

Tanks frantically running all over the place and dragging mobs / bosses behind them IS super annoying tbh...but yeah sometimes tensions can go high in groups - too high - especially when people are tired or stressed or had other negative events this day...

But how exactly is this anecdotal story evidence to an overall communiy deterioration again? I think you are a bit very dramatic tbh...

Even from my bad english you can understand that i wasnt rushy with the tanking. I was even slow/because i have quest and needed to wait for npc rolle play talk.
And no i`m not dramatic. Sad maybe, but far from dramatic.
And do you think i come post here right after this happens for the first time ?
As i said i see it before. Many times. Lots of vote kicks to random persons with crapy reasons.
And oposite. Lots refuses to kick sm1 who deserve it. Like 2 person joining in dungeon as tank and healer, but they are both dps, and no i dont mean normal dungeon runs/ where rolles dont matter
Other example are world boss quests. Ppl stay and wait on boss spot. And there is another person looking for the same boss in zone chat, and no one bother to share. Once they have enough ppl to kill the boss, they dont care. And i dont mean the entire comunity, just the big part of it. And no, language barier is not the reason. Dont even try to convice me :D
Maybe is because i remember the good old time, before EsO go B2P. Maybe i compare today comunity to one back then.
So yes, it may be my foult.

maybe you're just unlucky... i might have 5%-10% negative encounters like the ones you describe but the vast majority are really nice... no offense - but i tend to have more negative encounters when i play in -my tz- early morning hours which seem when more russians are on...i don't know if its a communiy or language problems but the vast majority of my negative experiences where with russian players...probably a language issue

It sounds like they were just in a group and going on to do other things after. Kicking after a dungeon is kinda rude but poeple do it as it's less hassle than leaving group and reforming.

Also, if you had time to kite on normal then they might want to look at their dps before they start to judge other people.

If I'm in a premade group and we're 3 people in the group, we kick the last player 40-60% of the time when the dungeon is completed. We make sure that the person has the chance to hand in the quest, and then we remove them. With the loading screens in ESO, it often takes us 1-2 minutes to fully reform the group. There is no difference between a person leaving the group after handing in the quest, and the person getting kicked from the group if you look at rewards and consequences. Around 50% of the time the last player leaves on his/her own will, and we don't kick them. The rest of the time, the player sits around in the dungeon for whatever reason, either being semi-AFK or expecting to join us for the next dungeon. If the person in question pulls his/her own weight, we'll take him/her, but that doesn't happen often.

Kiting tanks are a nightmare for DDs because they need to constantly reapply their AOE spells in order to keep up the dps consistency (also for healers with aoe fields of course). In Blackheart's Haven on normal, you should not even bother with the adds and just keep nuking the boss unless the average level of the group is pretty low and you are lacking dps badly.

That being said, as some people already mentioned, it was probably a premade group of 3 people and they wanted to queue for the next dungeon. They could have said "gg, now can yo please leave the group" or just votekick you. Neither of which is an exactly nice thing to do but to be honest, there are worse things happening out there.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

M8 on normal you can solo the dungeon. No reason to kick sm1 only because you run with 3 friends.

Yes there is a reason to kick someone, if said someone is just standing there, picking his nose or sorting his inventory instead of leaving the group when the dungeon is finished. Like I said, you can either ask him to leave or votekick him.

I just ran four vet dungeons, two of which were DLC HM (Maza and Cradle) with no hiccups whatsoever as a Sorc tank—which ppl are prone to kicking out of reflex. I’m can’t remember the last time I’ve been kicked though, and I pug every single day.

Perhaps it’s something about your manner or tanking-style that’s off putting? Or a lack of communication? I make everyone get on mic, if only to listen. PC I constantly had issues with clueless people in Activity Finder who wouldn’t join Vent or Discord or even type in chat. Could be a platform issue, too.

Edit: Okay, I reread your post. First, running around in circles as a tank is your first mistake. Also, that boss is best tanked on the beach below the entrance to the lair, so all the adds trickle in nicely. Finally, it’s possible they just disbanded or wanted another tank and you finished the instance and completed your quest so I don’t understand the complaining.

Stand still while turned to skeleton? in blackheart heaven? I never saw anybody standing in skeleton form. Everybody kites and runaways and nobody DGAF about this. Only issue is when EVERYBODY in group is lame and so tank doesn't pull skeles to boss and dps can't nuke boss and can't focus mobs if they were not pulled and healer doesn't heal person which turned to skeleton.
I know there are 100 smart tactics to deal with this boss like luring him in far corner whatever, but this is all unnecessary, any ok dps can nuke it single handedly in vet hm. So if dps can't deal with captain in normal without fuss it's huge l2p issue for them and comments to tank just show that this dps are either trolls or noobs, in OP's case probably both.

Incorrect. Most tanks stand still these days as you should be tanky enough to eat the damage and the DPS can get the most out of their AOE’s, he doesn’t hit that hard especially on normal, even if your not running with a healer.

OP should of just stayed still. Regardless he probably didn’t deserve to be kicked over it.

This is some kind of joke. When tank is turned into skeleton there are several seconds of taunt left and boss will run amok anyway after that. And this is all not worth discussing since this boss dies in 15 seconds in normal. If dps struggle with this boss in normal they are complete trash in their role.
About what tank should do it all depends on particular encounter, dungeon, trial. Majority of challenging bosses are constantly jumping, teleporting etc so it's all different you can't just do the same "stand and block" everywhere.

It’s not a joke, it’s the best way to get that boss down as quick as possible. You usually have a couple of seconds from when the screen changes to when you turn into a skelly, plenty of time to reapply taunt.

It’s not a joke, it’s the best way to get that boss down as quick as possible. You usually have a couple of seconds from when the screen changes to when you turn into a skelly, plenty of time to reapply taunt.

You may over-taunt then :D idk, really (c) I completed this pledge like 100 times both on tank and dps and never had any problems and it was finished less then in minute in 2-keys mode. Maybe if dps were actually doing damage instead of typing in chat, this thread won't appear.

    LOL no.

It was a joke. I guess this thread will go direfrost keep way, where low group dps and inability of pug dps to break free was blamed on tank who should use reverberating bash on ice witch...
Btw, if you are speaking about min-maxed experienced tank in this dungeon he will switch to something like relequen+power assault+vma bow+velidreth+ lava foot-soup and deal his honest 20k+ dps while tanking, to speed up process instead of standing blocking laughable damage in full tank setup.

Seems you didnt understand nothing :)
    Peace

If you successfully left the group before they could kick you (as you intended to do), this thread wouldn't exist.

Ok no, they asked you to stay still. Why didn't you? I would have.
