Anyone else finding Necromancer underwhelming?

I think magcro is pretty good actually. More mobs, more damage, more heals. Just have to find the best bar set up. I found the stam morphs to do significantly less damage. This is just me doing solo PvE though.

I would almost rather it be underwhelming, and then be improved upon, than come OP out the gate. Especially with so many people playing them right now. Let them be weak and have their moment, and then slowly reevaluate the skill lines and tweak it to bring it up to par with the others.

Yeah but people still need to give their opinions otherwise ZOS will not know its under powered :)

Personally I find the idea of a "Stam-anything" that deals with Magic, absurd.
What are you gonna do, sweat a buncha bones on me?
I've always hated "Stam" builds that went outside of Bows, 1H, 2H, or Shield abilities.

If necros were good/to good, people would complain and we would have 20 " ESO is P2W with Necros now!" threads a day for the lext 6 weeks. If its made weaker so that it is different but maybe not the best choice at least not at the moment over what we have, people complain about it. It doesnt matter which way the devs went with the class, people were going to complain about it just like the did with warden.

Personally i find the class ok to play but not spectacular though i havent made it past 50 yet. My wife who is much harder to please in ESO seems to love the class. She thinks its fun and different compared to the other classes. Perhaps the problem isnt the class but the people who are playing it and trying to turn it into another endgame meta class. Maybe for casual players, like most classes, it is perfectly fine for general play.

Maybe its a niche class that appeals to the casual player rather than the serious/hardcore crowd. Maybe the devs are tired of hearing people( incorrectly) cry about paywalls every time they do something so made the class underwhelming to all but casual players out of spite. Maybe they are going to start it our weak, get feedback, and then tweak it during the rest of the year.

I was hoping not to just play the same exact thing but in different colors. Sounds boring af imho

I dunno. I watched a video of a player that did a full vMA run as a magicka necro. (post and video is over in Player Guides subforum ).

Got me psyched enough to create one.

I’m so happy I found this thread lol.

I started the game basically the day before elyswer came out, and tried all the classes on Pts before deciding on my main. Felt the templates gave me a good time to make builds and see how much of each class I really enjoyed.

I actually although liked elements of the necromancer and it’s not that the class isn’t enjoyable actually preferred templar. I just enjoy Templar as a whole where I only liked select builds of the necromancer.

I thought I was going crazy and had missed something. Cause the whole worlds repelled necromancer and me being a new person took Templar instead lol.

It’s good to hear I’m not the only one who decided against necromancer haha

For it being underwhelming (providing its improved balance wise) imho is fine, it will fit some and not others. And it will become some mains and others dislikes.

It’s why we have multiple classes thankfully haha

Dont get me wrong, the animations are beautiful but it just feels like a less effective Sorc with spoopy themes.

Blastbones is glitched and does far less damage than the tooltip implies it should, not to mention its horrendous pathing and the fact that they can be killed in pvp.

The class lacks many things that most other classes have such as an execute and while you can pick these up with weapon skills the passives actively (passively?) Discourage you from doing so if youre a dps.

The beautiful flaming doom balls are weak compared to other classes spammables and the ricochet skulls fail to properly proc sometimes.

Its just a bit surprising it was allowed to make it to live in the state its in.

It will be fixed for console launch, PC is just beta test for consoles :D

My initial impression is that its an incredibly fun class to play but was overnerfed before release. Perhaps they were scared of releasing an overtuned class like with the warden?

Maybe we should split this thread up for hardcore and casual players.

For a casual player like me (PvE overland, dungeon, veteren dungeon, some PvP) I really like this new fresh class.
Animations look sweet. Did you notice the blue flames on an enenmy when your fire DOT procs from the skull?
    That is so cool!

On the PTS I soloed some dungeons and that went really well and fast. (with a magcro).

For me the pets feel like permanents, because if you slot them, you will want a 100% uptime.

And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

Have you played any other Elder Scrolls game before ? Elder scrollms never were about magicka. Ever.

I do agree on the fact that "stamina" is a missrepresentation of the toxic / disease aspect of necromancy. But since the game's mechanics are so poorly divided in categories for no reason besides constraining us, the only way with the current mechanics to acurately depict that aspect of necromancy is through stamina skills.

I am really impressed that tanking with the necro is a lot of fun. Stam necro, yes I feel it is powerful, too. Mag necro? Levelled one to 15 and immediately deleted it. I will never level another one as it looks way behind other mag classes and not fun to play at all.

Depends, you can create a pretty nice aoe burst/bomb build with a magcro. Pretty squishy and sucks in fights/duels but good for blowing up people ramming keeps or in zergy fights

Other than that it feels pretty meh, I'll keep playing it tough as I enjoy it anyway ^^

I'm enjoying the hell out of the Necro class

I think what folks are most pissed about is they can't have armies of undead, or more particularly they can't have them clogging up Daggerfall.

But whatever, you don't like them don't play them.

I think Necro is less underwhelming than Warden was at launch. Hell, it’s still better than mag-warden!

No what most people are upset about is definitely the fact that the class is horrifically bugged right now and some of its abilities dont even work.

This is what worries me. They never fixed magden so why would we assume theyll fix magcro?

All class skills should be Magicka based, with the morphs doing different types of damage (poison/physical etc).

Stamina should just be for the underwhelming weapon skills/dodging and blocking that they have nowadays.

As a console player, how bad is the justice system? There were numerous threads where people were whining complaining that it sucks and that you get a bounty in a delve following quests and so on....So now that it is live, how bad is it really? Do you get a bounty if you are in the middle of nowhere fighting some adds and a npc sees you casting a skill which is considered a criminal act? Can you play delve quests were the quest giver follows you and sees you doing all this forbidden stuff without getting a bounty?

You do realise that with the morphs doing the different types of damage, you would have more build variety. And maybe some sort of balance could be found.

Maybe my last sentence was badly worded, but I meant that stamina is use only for physical actions.

Its alright in most situations but some delves and dungeons are giving players a bounty. Its safe to assume this isnt intended but you know how ZoS is about fixing anything.

It doesn't feel like a traditional Necro, I'll give you that. Mine is only level 17 and I'm healing with it, so I can't speak on the mag dps of it. What dps I do do while solo isn't anything for me to complain about though. I'm sure it will get tweaked after being live for a bit. I'm happy with it atm.

While fun it's just not the type of class that I like to play. I'm interested in neither the theme of the necromancer nor the pets, even if only temporary ones. So I shelved my necro for now.

In my opinion, Necromancer is best in slot for role play by far.

Role a necro and head to the RP ghettos of Riften, and/or the slum that is Auridon. So much fun to be had!

If underwhelming is being the only class I hit over 100k on, on the new trial dummy, and pulling 70k+ on each dragon in Vet Sunspire then.... I guess?

You have to really understand the necros skills in order to reap the benefits of the class. The learning curve is higher at first, but once you figure it out, their dps and rotations are pretty static.

The whole class (from dps perspective, since I’ve never healed or tanked with one yet) revolves around consuming corpses. Some of your highest hitting skills utilize them. So, create corpse, eat it for damage, win.

I will say that in raid, there are certain skills that are really buggy, so you can’t utilize their full potential yet. They are however, top of the stam dps leaderboards.
