RNG is trash, running a dungeon 16 times in a row on vet and normal, and still not obtaining the item you need is ridiculous, that's not a grind at all. RNG in this game is terrible, and on top of that half the time the random group your in won't respond to you on such items your farming for. And trying to find a group that you know willing to help out sucks as well. Sorry I had to rant, because doing this takes away from all other aspects of the game.

It can suck for sure. Just be thankful you can transmute now.

Signed, someone still farming for a VMA inferno staff.

I get that, but what's the point of transmuting if you can't even obtain what you're looking for lol

Actually ESO have one of the most forgiven RNG, a system that let you change the Trait, the Enchant and also improve it to the Max by yourself and is not even that difficult? More then that and it would have a screen were you choose the exactly thing you want.

Not mean to be rude, but i don't know what groups you're in, but when i go (Normally with randoms, after all no friends here) first thing i do when starting the Dungeon i want, is saying something like "i need Valkyn Heavy and BSW jewelry if it's not a problem" and of course in the end of the Dungeon i remind then of what i want, and they always trade.

But one thing for sure, when you start to do vMaelstrom you will know what true RNG hell is.

16 times? How long are you playing MMOs? There are items you can grind for years and still not obtain them...

I wouldn;t be against a (suitably expensive) token system, where you also got a token from each dungeon run, and you could spend, say, 100 of them to get the item you want (in random trait).

I reckon if you run a piece of content 100 times and haven't got what you're after via RNG, you've probably earned it anyway at that point.

Guildies or friends = more successful farming. Good luck :)

16 times is really not that much though

So just think about everything you just wrote, and apply that to what I have been doing. And I will tell you more people leave a dungeon without acknowledging that they have or haven't got the piece you're looking for, or they don't even say anything at all from the start, I stand with my statement the RNG is trash for this game, the transmute system means nothing when you can't obtain a jewelry piece.

    1. You can trade gear with other people in your dungeon.
    2. You can change the trait on the item.
    3. You can change the enchant on the item.
    4. You can run it on normal and upgrade the gear you get to legendary.
    5. Dungeons don't take a long time to complete (few DLC dungeons are the exceptions)
    6. Items are often dropped by several bosses in the dungeon, and you can even get set items from chests in the dungeon.

If anything, ESO has one of the best systems for farming gear. It took me over 2½ years to get a pair of pants for my level 70 hunter (twink) in WoW. I was able to complete the raid ONCE every WEEK, and the item had a 7% drop chance from ONE boss.

Some drops are rarer than others. That's the nature of the game. If there was some kind of token system, you might as well skip the farming process altogether and let everybody just pick his stuff from some NPC vendors. A system that says "you have completed CoA 4 times, here's your destro staff" is just pointless. Is that really what people want?
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon

I still remeber that... Had to do something arround 100 dungeon runs to get weapon I needed... I am terrified at the thought that in the past ppl could not change trait so not only you needed the right weapon but also the right trait... :*

And 16 times is really not that much. I remember running vWGT over a hundred times to get the Kena helmet back in the days. That was bad RNG in comparison with today.

ESO is too easy mode to farm gear! In most other games you run a dungeon and get nothing useful while in ESO every player gets loot from every boss which increases your chances alot!

    Depends what you are farming

A complete armour set, like Ebon, should be easy to acquire in 16 runs.

A single, specific item, like a Burning Spellweave Inferno staff? I know people who are well into 100+ runs looking for that (and a bunch of people more than happy to help them farm it). I would not expect anyone in a PUG who found it to hand it over - they would have to be super-generous.

If the process annoys you so much, stop and do something else for a bit before going back. The rng doesn’t improve simply because you’ve done a bunch of runs in a row. It doesn’t get better if you’re angry. It does get more enjoyable if you find a bunch of friends/guildies and do it with them.

As everyone who has a vMA inferno staff will tell you, you will get it eventually.

Stop running with Random groups and get some guilds and friends who will help out.

It's much easier when you have four rolls on the item every run.

Lost count of how many times I ran City of Ash 1 & 2 for a burning spellweave inferno staff - too many times to count them. Never got it. Instead, I worked around it when building the 2nd set of gear for that character. I helped a friend to farm it too (for even more countless times) and she didn't get it either and ended up doing same as me, and working around it.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend, my Shining Light. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

Replace your '4' with 15 or 20 or more, to be realistic. I don't see the problem or how it would make anything more pointless than it already is.
