Wow, nasty chat lag, guild not showing up, now my character are stuck in the world...C'mon Zenimax. Megasevers are not the future. We need more manageable server sizes.

Friend list, ignore list and guilds are all disabled when you get put on the overflow server. They will be restored once you get moved to the megaserver. This is an automatic change that occurs once space is available.

And that would be great if the guild chat actually worked on the megaserver rather than the 5-10 minute lag many people are experiencing.
The servers are under a ton of stress, hence the overflow server being necessary.
In my opinion, chat lag isn't a huge deal once you consider the other possibilities.

Which, imo is kind of an indictment of the megaserver. If it can't handle the stress of all the people logged on then maybe it wan't such a good idea. The mere fact that they created an overflow server implies that they knew the megaserver wasn't up for the job.
I know it's the still a new game and soon after launch so the population is high at the moment, and the game will most likely bleed players after 30 days. But what if it actually gains players? The reviews have been generally favorable, I think it's a pretty enjoyable game despite many of the game design decisions that I disagree with, but if we're already above capacity now...
To be fair, not all of the physical servers are ready for use just yet.
The EU megaserver was only recently brought online. Before it was being used, EU players were hosted on the NA server. They're still bringing more hardware online and increasing capacity.

OK, that is a fair point. And hopefully as it gets up and running this will have been a one time thing and I won't have anything bad to say about the megaserver.
