What contributes to mount speed?

My mount is 60/60 for Riding Speed on my main and my alt. It seems to me that my main is faster. Both use Rapid Maneuver for 30% increase.

(I love Assist Rapid Riding https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1554-AssistRapidRiding.html)

Are there any other contributing factors to mount speed?
You wouldn't worry so much about what other people thought about you, if you knew how little they did. - ??

SEE I've noticed this also, If I use a horse I look fast but if I use a bear I feel slower, I can't recall who but they said its the same speed just because its a larger entity it looks slower etc

Nope, only stable upgrades and Major Gallop (no Minor Gallop in the game at the moment) contributes to mount speed.

Are you by chance riding around on a bear or some other mount that looks a bit clunky? Might be that.

Some mounts have better strides and landing bounce after a jump, some have really bad animations that actually slow you down while others are smoother giving you a slight leg up.

Windrunning (the CP passive) should affect mount speed as well.

Other than that, it’s probably down to perception. Here is another thread on the subject with some test results:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/436989/mount-speed

Certainly you’re not alone in feeling that different mounts/mounted toons run at different speeds. There is also something to be said for mounts glitching or catching on the terrain differently, as noted in the thread above. But theoretically they should be equal.

I could agree that a different mount would make the speed seem off, but both toons are using Nascent Indrik.

Are your toons different heights? Mounts scale to your toon’s height, which can also make one feel faster than the other. A tall toon will have a larger mount than a small toon, but they should cover the same distance in the same time.

If Windrunning isn’t the difference, then perhaps try testing the two as in the earlier thread? I believe the tester described the test “track” they used if you want to compare numbers. (They did have Windrunning, though.)
