If Crown Crates get removed, what happens to our Crown Gems?

Loot box ban might happen, we get to keep our crowns for sure but what about gems? We should be able to keep them as well, and how will rare rewards be obtained?

They won't be banned, but if they are, ZOS will just start selling the crown crate contents as individually purchasable items.

Hope they won't be. It is the reason the game is still up imo. Let the whales be whales.

Which is what most of us wanted them to do all along. Here's hoping.

As to the OP, one would HOPE, shoudl that come to pass, that they would be converted to a reasonable amount of actual crowns. But I wouldn't count on it.

I think it would be unfair if you couldn't exchange to crowns because you've put real money in gems as well

Except everything will cost 2 or 3 times what you think it should to make up for the shortfall from being able to get EXACTLY what you want without having to pray to RNGesus first.

LOL the game was doing fine before Crown Crates and it will continue to be fine after Crown Crates. This game never needed the crates.

    As opposed to what?

With crates, it's the chance that you might have to pay a fraction of the cost, but more likely 2, 3, or 5 or 6+ times the cost depending on how badly RNG hates you. Everyone hopes they'll get what they want in a few crates. More likely, you wind up paying that "2 or 3 times the cost" price, if not more, which is why its lucrative for ZOS.

Personally, I'll take a higher fixed cost to avoid RNG. I've never bought Crown Crates, so with the current system, ZOS is making $0 off me.

They won't get rid of them, they will just make them compliant with the new laws.

It's the same way with casinos. They haven't outlawed them, but there are regulations.

Crates, casinos, and other things of the same ilk are all money makers-- not just for the parent company. If they make money, the government also makes money. Why would the government say no to millions (and billions in the case of casinos) of extra dollars.

If laws do get passed, it will be to protect minors, and probably to add transparency on odds.

I'd bet against the loss of crown crates. That said, what to do with crown gems would be easy; convert them to crowns as many of the crate items would get moved to the normal crown store. EZ.

I'm done with this game because of ZOS pushing us into Vengeance, because they don't know how to fix Cyrodiil.

Is everyone happy that Bethesda will spend millions to fight the government for Crown Crates but will not use that money to have better servers and more man power to work on the game?
Not my quote but I love this saying

It's very unlikely ESO will remove the crates even if the US law somehow passed. Most focus is on exploiting children and ESO is a game which isn't meant for children.

If they did get removed though I would imagine ZOS would either convert gems to crowns or just leave them and add some options to buy spend them on things to clear them out.

Did I miss something? Did they file a lawsuit against this or spending millions on it how?

They would probably have an in-game message saying "crown crates will be going away on this specific date, so you better spend all your gems or else they're gone!" I'd love to see gamble crates go away, but them going away will be a long shot.

Except Zenimax Media Inc. (their parent company) is a private company. The only "shareholders" are their employees.

What if someone is on break or unaware and misses to spend them? That's not good idea

Right. Just because there'd be no loot boxes, doesn't mean there couldn't be a "gem shop" to let people continue using up their gems.

The game was fine before the crown crates a lot of us pay eso plus. I pay eso plus just to support eso I love what they are doing many will pay eso plus either to support game or for crafting bag then there’s lots of stuff in the crown store so eso is 100% fine 🙂

This is ironic. There are plenty of other countries that are changing their loot crate laws.

^ is from last year, there are probably other countries that have joined in with the fun but this was found through a simple google search

Believe it or not there are tons of players who think that everything will be sold for a fraction of what they'd have to spend now. Like they aren't already selling mounts for 4000 crowns. That will become the minimum standard. I've gotten so many mounts from buying the 5000 crate package I it's ridiculous.

I know it's one persons lucky rolls, but it used to happen every season when I bought crates. I personally would love for this to transpire though, just to giggle at the outcome and subsequent outrage that follows.

On another note, this ban won't have any impact on M rated games as it is about protecting CHILDREN from gambling, not adults who can't say no to Lootboxes or won't seek help for an addiction and what will happen is more games will just up their ratings. It's a waste of taxpayer money so politicians can pretend like they care about the industry and soccer moms can claim a victory.
