Will the Elsweyr Expansion add more character slots?

Will the Elsweyr Expansion add more character slots? In other words will it raise the max number of additional slots we can purchase in the crown store?

We get one slot for free and can purchase an additional two in the crown store. The new maximum is 18 characters.

Source? Last I heard they hadn't settled on a number for additional slots in the store.

As of last month the official word is that you get the free character slot only if you buy Elsweyr:

Regardless of buying Elsweyr, everyone gets two additional slots for purchase as part of Update 22.

Gina clarifies this in two posts in the thread linked above.

I forgot about the two additional slots being available for purchase and spent my crowns for a six month subscription renewal on silly crap. Looks like it will be a while before I get all three characters unless they can be gifted so I can spend some of my gold.

They said it in the very first ESO Live when they announced Elsweyr, that there would be 1 free character slot for everyone and more available for purchase.

This is shown to be correct on the PTS where every account gets 1 free character slot, and there are 2 additional ones available for purchase (taking the max character slots to 18).

Each Class: 1 Tank build, 1 Magicka build, and 1 stamina build.

One stamina and one magicka for each class as current or near future active characters, and a 3rd one as storage, possibly active in the future as well. All 3 will do crafting writs, just like their predecessors, hence increased income.

Why do you need 18 characters?

The real question is "why would you ever delete a character?" If you spent time building a character up and some skills get nerfed, you create a new one without deleting the old one, because the balance could swing back in future, and you don't want to waste all that work. Especially as class can't be changed.

That's nice about the free slot. I purchased a slot a few months ago, in prep for the new class. I'll hold off making a new mule until I see it with my own eyes, though.

It cannot be explained. I currently have 55 across 5 accounts and two servers. Some were created because a name got stuck in my head. Some were to try a new race/class/role combo. Some were created just because.

Edit: math is hard sometimes.

Actually... I have deleted mules when they no longer suited me and want to make a real character. I have deleted full level 50 characters who no longer fit with me and wanted to start fresh. A simple race change or complete swap from magicka to stamina or vice versa wasn't enough, they needed to be purged in the most painful way possible.

Yeah, that's a big nope from me. All my mules have maxed out bags. I wish I had been a little more selective about their class now.

Because I will play all 18 characters. Not all of them are going to end up in vet trials or anything like that but the 15 I have now are all fully leveled and appropriately geared. I use one to farm mats and do surveys whenever I get a lot of surveys saved up. After this last event I had 154 surveys to do so he got a lot of play time.

I tend to do things in cycles. Right now I am running trials almost every night so I mostly stick to the four characters I feel won't bring the group down. Two I am comfortable with in most vet trials the other two can handle a couple of the vet trials. Eventually I will drift back towards PvP and that means bringing out other characters. When the new chapter starts my first main will be the first to go through it because she always goes first.
My first Necromancer I plan on going to the starter island and over time (no hurry) do the main quest and all of Cadwell's adventures. Not sure if I will do all the side quests in each zone but maybe. Been a while since I did the whole story in order so will be fun on a new character. I don't power level but I might start a 2nd necromancer shortly after the first and just get skyshards and all that fun stuff so I can get him/her into pledges and trials. The third I will sit on for a while before deciding what else I need.
