Allocating points into crafting?

Is this something you should do on a non mule character? I don't know how it would impact builds/etc. and how many points would you put into crafting?

I would suggest not trying to master more than 2 skills. At least early on

I figured just increasing metalworking and clothing on my night lade so I could make better gear

    Sounds doable )

Impact builds... so the build consists of 10 skills (make it 20 points because of morphs), even if you had 2 whole builds, 40 points... Now there's ~300 points in the game. You tell me if you should or shouldn't?
It's perfectly doable and even viable doing all of them, you don't need to spend skillpoints in eg. extraction passive. Just the main one so you can use higher materials + Keen Eyes (very much needed for higher mats) + research passive.
You don't even need to make items, just extract all you find and you'll end up with ~25 lvl in the craft. Then you can pick your favorite to bump up first.
Or you can go totally cheapskate route not putting any points there, but still extracting all you find. Extraction is the key.

I'm level 30 and have 20 odd skill points invested into Alchemy, Provisioning and Woodworking. There are more places I want to spend skill points, but I haven't had trouble leveling with so many points put into my crafting.

Wait is keen eyes actually worth getting?

If you want to max out a main crafting profession (that is not alchemy or provisioning) you need 24 points.

Keen eyes is worth getting, if you don't want to decrease GFX options to not show brushes, grass, plants. In my opinion, some nodes are very well hidden in plain sight (flax, cotton and in some case logs looking like they'rea actual nodes but actually are just scenery) so if you want to collect them, getting at least the first level is a well invested point. I collect everything, refine it and dump it into the guild bank if I don't use it for myself.

Depends. I find keen eyes quite useful for alchemy. Easy to miss some of the little plants. It's less useful for mining nodes, which are quite visible without the skill.

Keen Eyes are more useful in 2nd zone +, as devs had this brilliant idea (no sarcasm) to make higher lvl mats harder to see, try finding Ebony in Cyrodiil, it looks exactly like the rocks around the node.
I took Keen Eyes for everything but runes (those are hard to miss and if I miss them, no glow would help me anyway).
Btw Keen Eye for Alchemy highlights herbs and water skins, but doesn't highlight those tiny bubbling pools on edges of water surfaces, which you can harvest for water too.

Yes Keen eye is worth it (as everyone else has stated haha).
I didnt put a point into Keen eye until yesterday when I got into Blackmarsh. Iron and High Iron are very easy to spot but that Orich stuff is green and Blackmarsh is a swamp...Keen eye helped =)

I have a crafter that is putting points in nothing but crafting. As you might expect, it has made questing vastly more difficult without any means to heal (outside of potions) and no skill based skills to leverage against the enemies. However, it has made me much better at reading enemies, reacting quickly to situations in which I should block and interrupt. In truth, I have been able to use the skills I've learned (blocking, interrupting, dodging) on this skill-less wonder and made myself much better at questing when I'm actually playing a character that does have class and weapons skills.
