What are the odds of us getting a Trial Group Finder?

I think adding Trials to our activity finder would go a long way towards actually getting players in trials. Now I know the dungeon finder in thid game has its issues but since they dont seem to be working on a fix for it anyway, why not include trials in the activity finder for people who are more casual in playstyle?

    They should.

DLC dungeons on veteran mode - especially when they first come out - are way harder than your average trial on normal mode anyway and are rarely completed through pugs. So there's really no good reason why they shouldn't add trials to the mix as well.

The normal mode should be relatively successful while the veteran versions will likely end in failure more often than not. But as I pointed out - that's really no different than the current DLC model. Yet those are still added to the activity finder. So there is no good argument against this.

Group finder doesn't work for 4 man dungeons. It's much much easier to get on a trial at the moment than a specific dungeon, especially as DPS.

This. Craglorn is pretty much its own group finder tbh.

Except, maybe, group setup. Dungeons are designed for 2DD+1healer+1tank. Even though you can rearrange afterwards. Trials sometimes require 1 tank 3 healers, or 2 tanks 2 healers, or more, or less... so it's more complicated to add in an automated group finder. I think the current method (zone&guild chats) works perfectly. By the way, it's the method we have been using for years before group finder finally started working (sort of) and it worked just fine too. It was also less toxic because people could state their expectations beforehand; without all the complaining&kicking drama.

Imagine all the complaints about fake tanks, healers and DDs....although replacing lost group members might be easier?

I'd prefer if they fixed DF for dungeons before creating another buggy tool for trials.

If it were going to exist, the GF tool would need:
    • fixes to existing issues for all activities in GF
    • unique rewards for each of the instanced activity types as incentives for experienced players to accept pugging a trial
    • a toggled option to choose to join "in progress" and still get the basic rewards and count as a completion
    • a bonus for joining in progress runs
    • a tracker for characters that get repeatedly kicked for being fake tanks/healers (if enough players in 3 different trials groups in a day or 6 groups in a week kick you as a fake tank that it isn't them, it's you), with a cool-down on queuing that role on that character for going over some limit per some unit of time

Specifically for trials it would need:
    • minimum CP level for veteran trials
    • requirement to have to have beaten a trial on vet for it to show up in the options roulette (it would be for farming not for fist time clears) while normals non-DLC would be open to some minimum character level the same as GF for dungeons with no prior completion requirement

I would like to see an option to add more zones to the chat area. Would be great if I could be doing my thing in Rivenspire and see Craglorn zone chat.

and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Roughly the same as the odds of a pug group actually clearing a trial.

A lot of us never really bother with trials because of access. It's hard for casual or busy players to commit to a guild schedules and trying to build large groups through zone chat can be more of a hassle than anything else. So I"m not sure I agree with you that the current system works well - at least not for everyone.

Your point about different group make ups is a fair one and something I wasn't aware of. I don't do trials often - but when we did we always just used traditional set ups. But I'm sure they could come up with something - such as allowing for a different combination of roles for certain trials etc. So that shouldn't be a deal-breaker.

    What are the odds?

Well, the first trials were released with Craglorn at the end of May 2014, so pretty much have been around 5 years now. That should tell you the odds aren't good.

Plus, practically everyone already queues for the 4-man dungeons in GF as DD, only to complain over how long it takes for a group to form because of the relative lack of tanks queuing. Imagine just how badly that would be magnified for 12-man groups? Now, I'm not trying to be negative towards the idea, just realistic. I'd love to have trials added to GF, but realistically they just wouldn't work well for it. The end result would likely just be endless complaints from DD masses queuing about it being "broke" because of their long wait times. Likely Zos has also come to that conclusion and have avoided adding it for just that reason.
