One of the biggest issues I always have with the MMO genre as a whole is the insane levels of inventory micro management that are often needed. Devs tend to throw a crazy amount of gear, crafting materials, foods, cosmetics, toys and general junk at the player and expect players to waste a lot of time dealing with it, which is usually not much fun and represents time better spent in other ways.
Some games are better then others, some games provide good tools for dealing with it and some don't. ESO is one of the worst offenders, sadly and always has been since launch. Too much clutter and too few ways to deal with it and manage it, with a clunky housing, banking, mail and guild vendor system making the situation worse.
The main thing that makes it semi-bearable is the crafting bag. But locking this behind ESO+ is pure exploitation of a poor game design that punishes players for actually playing (the more you play, the more junk you have to manage).
The game is essentially unplayable without ESO+ because of the crafting bag and the extra bank space. So, personally, I *only* play the game when I am prepared to subscribe. And every time I do this I totally resent feeling like I'm being forced into subscribing simply to make the game playable.
I'm no freeloader, II have the Imperial Edition, all expansions and most of the DLC unlocked. I don't mind subscribing for the right reasons. I would probably subscribe MORE if the crafting bag was taken out of the equation, simply because of how much I resent it. I want to subscribe to support the game in return for some nice benefits. I resent having to subscribe to make the game actually function in a playable and pleasurable manner. This drives me away.
ESO+ should be all about carrots, not sticks. The crafting bag is a very big stick with which they beat players into subscribing. ZOS have painted themselves into a bit of a corner with this now, but I'm sure they could devise a decent carrot to replace this stick with if they tried.

It is insane that you are worried about their revenue, that is the definition of brainwashed fanboism lol. Think about what you are saying, the only revenue you should worry about is your own. They would have to adapt and stop using cheap gimmicks bc customers stopped enabling them. This is insane, everything wrong with mmos lol.

Funny I wouldn't pay Zenimax a subscription fee to play ESO, but I have ESO+. I guess what I am saying is we are getting more worth from having a pseudo subscription. Take away the crafting bag, what is going to replace it to keep getting more bang for our buck?To be honest, if it wasn't part of the subscription, I'd probably drop the sub.
But is the game even worth playing without the craftbag? It's basically not. Your inventory management is nightmare. You will waste so much time rearrange stuff having to go from mule toon to mule toon which also means you have less slot for characters for actual content playing. The subscription gives enough, you get crowns you get all dlc access, you get discounted items, and gold and xp buffs. Yeah people would not sub since they have accepted the extortion tactics. But the game would overall be better and the populations would grow and more subs would be sold in the long run. People want appreciate the game more and want to support them with a subscription as opposed to being forced to. Believe me it does turn people off from subbing.
GarnetFire17 wrote: »I never like that they decided to stick this behind an subscription wall. It's one of the few things ZOS has done that gets me to grind my teeth when thinking about it. I don't think it was necessary to resort to inventory extortion to sell subs. The subscription has enough value to justify the price for many people without it. If you want to do the double bank space as sub-only that would be fine by me, but the craftbag is too big a quality of life aspect. It would just make the game immensely better for all if they just let everyone have it and that would be a good thing because you don't want people frustrated and quitting the game because they are constantly having to deal with choosing to make room in the inventory every 30 seconds or leave stuff on the ground they could be picking up and selling later since everything you grab is worth at least some gold. I think it was very bad choice.
Extortion? Really? How did you ever play before the craft bag was introduced?

Tell that to Fornite players. You don't need a subscription model to even have a good game and make millions. Make the game fun and the game will profit. And don't let tedious things like inventory managment become a pain in the first place. Not only should it be part of the base game. It should have been in from day 1.

I want to go back to a mandatory reduced price sub.
Poppycock, no way any reasonable person will believe you would pay more to get less. Your post is just about getting more benefits in game without paying for them.
Craft bag is a nice benefit so subscribe already, the game functions just fine without the craft bag, it is just a "super convenience," and there is nothing wrong with paying for convenience.
