Brief background:
I have, like many others experienced many many bugs in the game.
Serious bugs such as the launcher not suddenly deciding that the game was not installed and having no options except the install button (no repair, check options available). Click install and it said I did not have 60 gig available for install. Sent several tickets to get either a) No response at all or b) Stock cut and paste replies that were totally useless and some that had absolutely nothing to do with my problem.
I solved the issue by reading a solution on these forums (3 missing files).
Multitude of other (but not actually completely game halting bugs). These range from sudden crashes, frame rate loss, lag, combat actions being ignored (press a hotkey action and nothing happening), character suddenly locking/freezing for several seconds etc etc.
And that is not even including the quests that don't work, npc's not respawning etc.
So, I decided that enough was enough and I would muddle on through my free game time but would not subscribe until ZOS got their act together and fixed the majority of the multitude of bugs etc that currently exist.
So, I went on the account page and I cancelled my subscription. Fine. Account now says active but sub cancelled.
I was then browsing addons available for the game and I found one that lets you know if any of the mats in your bank are in any recipes that you know. Excellent I thought I will give that a try as having a multitude of alts to store mats I can't currently use is a real pain to organise as you gave to keep a list of mats you can use to offload the others. I download the addon.
So, I try to login to the game. I get the usual "attempt to login from different ip address". Total crap as usual - my IP is the same as it always has been. I have never tried to login from anywhere else. OK, grin and bear it. Wait for the email. By the time it arrives the code has expired. Go through the process again.
I get into the game and am flooded with system messages saying the server is going down for maintenance. Typical I think. Get in at last and the server is going down. I check on the website to find that actually the server has just come up again. So, what I am seeing is actually thge system broadcasts from hours ago. So, OK no biggy but yet another example of the myriad of bugs that this game has.
I set about having a look at the addon. Before I do so however I notice that chat is being totally spammed by gold seller chat (so much for the ban hammer ZOS were so proud of). I check my mail. 10 messages. 8 are from gold sellers.
I think OK, I will report them as I always have done. So, I right click on gold seller in chat and choose report player. The normal screen comes up. But, I cannot enter any details, and I cannot click on any options. Then I check if I can submit a ticket. That option is no longer present. In fact, I can no longer do any in game CS stuff at all. I check with guildies to make sure that it is still working and they can.
IN SUMMARY:-
DO NOT CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION BECAUSE IF YOU DO YOU NO LONGER HAVE IN-GAME SUPPORT !!!!
Yes ty ZOS. I still have 25 days game time but because I cancelled my sub I no longer merit support. It's like, you cancelled - well *** you then, we will not let you have access to (crappy) support any more.
As I say, I was on the fence before. But this ? Well straws and camels. Sub will now remain cancelled and I will not be coming back. Well done. Another previous longtime fan you have alienated and lost custom from.
EDIT:
It appears that this is yet another bug and not beacause I cancelled. Makes no difference though to me. Back to GW2 then Wildstar.
