What were your biggest problems when entering PvP?

When I first joined PvP through Battlegrounds, I remember that it felt as though everyone moved so fast and took no damage. But those are minor things that naturally get straightened out once you delve deeper into PvP playstyle and builds.

    - Slow mount is too painful in Cyro. You can't just create a toon and hop on over to PVP, especially since leveling and gearing is wayyy quicker than the time it takes to get to max mount speed.

    - Finding fights can be a pain, especially when coupled with a slow mount. By the time a fight shows up on the map, you're usually too late to make it there on time. Joining guilds normally alleviates this issue, but again, if you're just a newbie trying to give PVP a try, you're not going to have a guild.

    - Even with a good group, Cyro can get repetitive a little too fast. It can quickly feel like you're fighting over the same keeps day in and day out, whereas PVE offers more variety even for casual players.

I played this game from the start. I 've been "living" in Cyrodiil and I enjoyed it. But over the years I encountered some unfair obstacles from the game itself which led me today to the point that I can't be in the place for more than an hour. To be more specific the biggest issue I have is that my character slowly but steadily over the past years has stoped listening to my commands. It takes more and more time after pressing a button for my character to react. Sometimes he doesn't react at all. I used to be able to counter most attacks and be satisfied with myself even if I dided because I knew what I did wrong and I could change it. But now things are different. 90% of the times I die, I do because lag renders my character unplayable. It's like trying to control your body after a stroke.

Having only 3k ap IF i did the tutorial quest
Getting kicked from the group for not using siege (because i only had 3k ap and i was poor asf so didnt want to use gold)
Slow mount (every newbies bane really coupled with snipe gankers)
PvE gear and skills (like a scrub)
All the slang and acronyms associated with cyro and zone chat
1st BG i tried, i was a PvE healer in divines (total shambles as you could imagine) never did another BG till about a year or 10 characters later

I started PvPing properly about 1 year ago, i have zerged, been zerged, led pugs, followed pugs, bagged everyone including myself (yes astonishing achievement), i still die 9 times out of 10 but i've come to enjoy PvP nonetheless whether it being zerged over or having only 1 keep on the map for your own alliance. of course not giving a damn about dying helps, had some guy messaging me why i kept coming back (presumably to die again), told him why not, its a free respawn without a timer. He got pretty pissed off that i was his only opponent and i would die in couple of hits, free ap for him dunno why he complained. So its nice not giving a damn, triggers others even ones on your own alliance most of the time.

I've come to understand people who want a challenge/duel now but its the ones that dont fight each because 'they are friends/guildies' and that theres no reason to are the ones that annoy me but thats a somewhat minority and only really happens pre/post primetime.

    Hey all in my experience....

Getting killed, teabagged, killed again, not knowing where to go, killed again and teabagged again and again….clearly did not have fun and got sick of it. Bottom line is the lack of experience but if you overcome it, which I did, you will learn to love pvp (even with all the frustrated performance issues). My advice is to start playing in groups and to definitely join a pvp guild, play for the Campaign (for me is key to enjoying and experience pvp to its fullness) and above all, respect others players.

Over a year now only playing PVP

If we're talking bgs, killing healers. I still can't kill them sometimes. Cyrodiil? Trying not to die from boredom or getting mad at the lag. Never enjoyed open world pvp. The ainless running around hoping to find people to fight, silly.

Didn't read any comments or OP. Don't care. Cyro problem = lag. Tell me I'm wrong.

Cyrodill is fun when you learn to leave the toxic and useless behind. Zenimax cant teach this. Just log off or do some PvE stuff.

Lag and bugs makes it really difficult to learn and to become better. When it's not working as intended new players are at a bigger disavantadge. Sum server lag and the difference in ping between players and it gets frustrating really fast.

Also there is also the press F queue bug to make it even more annoying.

The PvP playerbase has diminished over the years. PvE players sometimes try PvP but they often drop out. I would like to ask what were your biggest problems/challenges that you had to solve when you entered PvP. Please describe them and tell us your solutions.

I hope that this thread will give some insight to ZOS on how to make it easier for PvE players or just new players to enter and actually enjoy PvP.
If it won't then maybe at least it will help some new players with their entry to PvP.

I went from a PvE player to PVP/PVE.

The biggest problem is the CP campaigns. Most players, especially new to CP don't stand a chance if they enter Vivec. I enjoy No-Cp/Under 50 Much more personally.

My strategy, more or less was to try different classes, builds.

For instance, I had (Origally) A Health DK PVE tank, a Magsorc DPS. PVE

    Since then,

    Magplar PVP,
    Stamblade PVP,
    Stamwarden PVP,
    Magwarden PVP,
    Stamsorc PVP,
    Magsorc/Petsorc PVP,
    Magblade PVP, (Garbage!)
    StamDK/HealthTank PVP,

    To do:

    Mag DK, Stamplar.

My favorites? Stamsorc. Stamwarden, Magsorc. Others could give or take based on my "Hit hard" playstyle.

this has been a really fun thread to read :)

I agree with a whole bunch of what everyone has already mentioned...

for myself, it was going in with no clue as to what a "build" or "rotation" even was...

my first character was a nightblade, I spent a whole lot of time hiding in the bushes...

not long after I started playing in cyro with the nb I made a heavy armor templar and things got better, than a mag sorc and i actually started having some success...

yeah, for new players going up against seasoned pvpers, not much of a fair fight...
