Wouldn't doing it in the middle of the night, rather than early morning EDT, help everyone out? Sounds like it would bump Oceanic to Friday afternoon, at least. Do they really need to accommodate east coast state players who stay up all night on a Thursday?
I'm not going to get too angry but I did get home eager to play and was a bit p*ssed off. They should at the very least *try* to find a time that fits for as many people as possible. I have a feeling they didn't bother though and just went what was convenient for the US. It's early days but I think an Oceanic server would be brilliant in the not-too-distant future.
On a side note can I play the EU server while the NA one is down? I tried and now it's acting like I need to download the entire game again...

Already answered this in another post - this is not always going to be the case, that server is being moved to the EU. Will maintenance be moved to accommodate Oceanics at same time?SK1TZ0FR3N1K wrote: »The EU server has horrible latency for Oceanics. 6am CEST is 12pm EST, meaning you would be in bed when it underwent maintenance. In every game, even those WITH Oceanic servers, there is always this 'outrage' because the NA server was taken offline at an 'inconvenient' time. I typically play a lot late night, early morning... so I lose play time too, oh well. But, hey, EU server is up... go have fun on it. :P
US people don't have issues playing on the EU server because you lot are closer to it. Distance is what makes pings high, nothing can be done about distance.
Actually, the EU server is housed in the US right now, just like the US server.

You have to download the EU client, yes. But it can be played on while the NA server is down.

My point is that the EU server WILL be too laggy to use as an alternative server for any Oceanic player to play on while our actual server (US server) is down on our Friday night prime time for maintenance. The EU server will be moved to the EU, and this is the latency I am referring to.SK1TZ0FR3N1K wrote: »
/facepalm the other side while you are at it....that was a reply to the person who said the EU server was too laggy to play on, and that's why they are playing on the NA server. It can't be since they are located in the same location at this moment.

Well if it stays on friday night permanently for Aussies i see no real reason to Subscribe after my time is up, sitting in maintenance's in our primes time every week after paying the same amount as US players and not being able to use the product means i wont pay for the product..Dgranger1089ub17_ESO wrote: »It's an American made game, foreigners will get the shaft unfortunately.

LMAO no.....the home location of the server always comes first. If it was located in Australia, and had more Oceanic players than NA players, then it would be based on your times, not NA times.
Great. Well, when I can actually be bothered doing that then it won't be so bad even if this is a regular occurrence. No crying over sweet rolls here
While I'm not particularly concerned about the downtime - I think all those that haven't had more than a decade of this kind of treatment in online gaming really don't know what they're talking about.
Certain countries are so accustomed to 'entitlements' it would be amusing to see said countries in a similar predicament as to what's going on here.
I would imagine the whining would be an almost galactic event.
It's procedures like this that further bolster my opinion that MMOs in general are nothing compared to what they achieved 10 years ago with a fraction of budget the and the technology... but that's a different forum post.
