New Mount Idea: Water-Walking

So I was thinking about this and how World of Warcraft does it. A water-walking mount. Cause flying mounts are out of the question, however, why not a water walking mount? Like obviously make slaughterfish attack the player either way. Even appear sooner with a slow at first to warn. But I'm tired of running through Murkmire or Grahtwood and having to dismount over a puddle.
I mean some mounts are better than others, you made the Novelty Stick Mounts not actually affected by mount speed. So why not make a water based mount. I think this would be much more achievable and realistic than flying mounts in ESO.
What do you guys think?

I agree, the inboard motors on my Dwemer spider barely get going before it ditches me. You know its ESO when levitating over water is preferable to learning to swim in it.

Like I never understood WoW's underwater mounts, but at least WW has normal use if not water.

Don't know if you have noticed, but in ESO, having your own boat is out of the question. And if you swim out too far its "game over" by slaughterfish.

Why would you think that a mount that crosses water would be something they want in their game?

I love the boat idea. I just wish they would think outside the box a little. All they think about are the same 7 mount reskins.
Bear, Camel, Guar, Horse, Lion, Senche, Wolf.
Sure we got Indriks. Even those have 4 different reskins. The Indrik was nice, kudos. But Gryphons, Spiders, Wereboar, even a Giant Chicken, Horker, Ummm MUDCRAB MOUNT? Betty Netch. Durzog. Snake. Giant Skeever. A giant fox? Lamia. Wamasu. An Imp? Like they can have flying mounts, even if it's only hovering. Ya know? Like you're so heavy on top the Imp that it just hovers a few inches off the ground. There are so many creatures in Elder Scrolls lore that I'd love to see.

The Lion is a reskin of the senche.

That said, you forgot the Dwemer Spider, the Elk, the Indrik (which might be an Elk reskin), the War Flea, the Koguti, and the Senche-Raht.

TBF I didn’t get past the first month in WoW so I don’t know how they did the mount OP speaks of.

However, ESO doesn’t have much water to traverse that isn’t infested with slaughterfish so I don’t really see a good value for this mount. So I vote no.

Those aren't the reskin ones. I mentioned the reskins, and I did mention the Indrik. And then I gave suggestions. Dwemer spider is a creative idea, but they executed it poorly. The rest of them are okay. Nix Hound as well. I'm not a bug fan or dinosaur. Albeit, spider mount.

That's what I'm pointing out, there are far more than just seven mounts that keep getting reskinned. Those were all mounts you didn't include in that mix, who are distinct mount types in their own right. Also, we both missed the Saber Cats. So, that's another animation variant.

There is a surprising amount of variation in the mounts in this game. There's also (at least) two horse variants (I think 3+) that aren't simply, "a horse with a different paint job."

They haven't even fixed the bug where you're constantly stuck in combat so you can't mount. Can you imagine? Having a water walking mount and being attacked by slaughterfish so you can't mount again, even after you log out and log back in you're still stuck in combat.

I'm saying there are 7 that get reskins. The rest are unique on their own. But of the 7 SPECIAL ones, they keep getting reskins. The Dwemer spider got 1 reskin but ONLY at the cost of 400 Crown gems.

I want reskins of other mounts or completely unique ones...

As far as I know, Slaughterfish aren't technically a combat flagged event. You can think of them more like environmental damage.

Also, I realize this is a little off topic, but the team is actively working on this one now. Or, at least, Gilliam is. They've fixed some of the stuck in combat issues in the past, but this one isn't, really, a single bug. It's a mix of intended behaviors kicking in and then not clearing properly. Even though the end result is the same. In the past they'd fix one condition, and miss the part where there were still other circumstances that could fire. Now, they seem to be dealing with the entire issue, rather than looking at it as a single bug.

There's three Dwemer Spider skins. The default, the blue glow, and the blackend and flaming. In fact, the only mount I can think of that doesn't have at least one reskin is the Senche-Raht.

There's six common mount rigs. The Horse, Bear, Guar, Senche, Wolf, and Camel. The lion is just the Senche with a mane added, (and if we'll accept minor variations like that as distinct mounts, the wheels come off on the options to include some of the Apex mounts, which technically have very unique mesh elements.) To be fair, you can bundle some in by simply pointing out they've, "clipped" elements of the mount off, like the Kaguti is a guar variant without the forarms, or the Saber Cat is just a tailless Senche.

I get the feeling that everything's getting recycled, (if that's the foundation of your complaint), but there is a fair amount of variety in the game's mounts.

Funny you should bring up WoW and waterwalking right now since there's a new patch just around the corner that actually removes waterwalking from the only mounts that have it.

They're implementing a mount equipment system that allows you use consumables to change the nature of your mounts (one option is to make all mount walk on water, another is to make all your mounts resistant to being stunned/dismounted). ESO already has such a system: increased speed, inventory, and stamina, but of course these are permanent improvements and you get to have all 3 at once, unlike in WoW.

I would be interested in having some sort of mount talent system, just so long as it doesn't make people feel forced into picking a certain mount over choosing a mount based on appearance.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

I guess, if it's environmental damage perhaps the mechanics won't trigger the bug. I expect it should not, but really I wouldn't be surprised if it did end up buggy. It's really just not going to work like the water strider mount in WoW. And I really liked that mount when I played that game. But sadly I don't think we will have that here on ESO, just like I don't believe we will have flying mounts.

And yeap, they say that they've been working on stuck in combat bug since early 2018 (earlier, probably tbh). Just like they've been working on long loading screens since November 2017. I believe they haven't even fixed most of the bugs that came with Summerset patch (example - ZMaja rez bug which we encountered wayy too often when we were doing prog), and they're already pushing out the next expansion Elsweyr. I love this game, but really I don't trust them to patch things out. I've ended up leveling and playing way more on FFXIV and whenever I come back to the same bugs on ESO it's just sad.
