People getting mad because some folks like to jump a lot has to be one the oddest things I've seen people rage at in video games. I get not personally liking it or wanting to do it, but getting bent out of shape over it? Wanting people penalized for it and experiencing schadenfreude at the though of it being "nerfed"?

I can clarify this... no one, as far as I can tell, is “raging” about this. Or even bent. Do I think it’s irritating? Yes. I’m sure nothing makes the bunny hoppers more happy than to hear that. It doesn’t seem to impact me killing them so that’s fine. It just strikes me as particularly unrealistic even in a game of (non sexual) fantasy.

Yet you want a stamina cost to jumping. Being "irritated" to that point qualifies for being bent out of shape. Otherwise why bother asking for a harmless movement to have a cost? Because you personally find it "non-realistic"? If that's the case, how about penalties for other things some people find unrealistic? I have a list of immersion-breaking things we could add to the list...

As for another example of being bent out shape, this very thread has the following comment:

Good, if this is true. It was absolutely ridiculous looking. Always loved killing a jumper. I'm not a t-bagger, but if I kill you and you jump all the time, I will stand over your body and jump until you release.

I'm sure it's just as annoying as it was for me fighting you..

Plus outside of this thread are many other examples of people being mad or disgusted, often because of people being lured into ambushes by hoppers. Then there are threads like these:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/440491/bunny-hopping-bannable/p1
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/453517/bunny-hopping
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/433322/jumping-should-cost-stamina

That's just a sample. Plus loads of comments in other threads that combine "hopping" and "Sorc" with suspicions that people must be cheating or exploiting. Yet, there is no exploit. People sometimes get killed by hoppers, and hopping becomes associated with their frustration.

But at the end of the day, hopping itself is just a movement. You don't have to like it. Yet it gets lots of really people worked up, like they are being taunted and can't let it go. It gets more threads and comments than tea-bagging , which is clearly intended to be disrespectful.

It's similar to those who write all of the horrible things they want to happen to those who leave an item or two in a treasure chest. The response is way out of proportion to the supposed offense.

Jumping in combat gives combat advantage - its more difficult to target bunny hoppers especially when close to them. As such jumping when in combat should have a stamina cost.

If you feel such please create a thread about your suggestion or join in one of the previously made ones.

Starting a conversation about whether it should cost resources greatly diverts the purpose of this topic.

Jumping helps ranged mag classes with targeting. Its not a "im trying to annoy you thing." With the way LOS works (or more often, doesnt work with lag) many players do this so they can get the kill on people running to hide

I've noticed players not jumping as high either, so the excuse "It makes us harder to hit" is out the window too...not that it was actually true. Never had issues targeting a jumping player.

Annoyance is an emotion that decreases your concentration. Less concentraation means you are not being as efficient and are more likely to make a mistake.

Ha..I'm not bent out of shape.

I just said it looks ridiculous and I enjoy killing the fools who do it.
By all means, keep doing it. Outside of being annoying to watch, it certainly hasn't help keep the players I've faced alive. I love jumping on your dead body...lol

Not noticing anything recently but jumping in ESO has always been clunky compared to Skryim or Fallout.
I complained about this during the beta :open_mouth:
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This game has the worst jumping mechanics ever. Jumping in ESO has call of duty physics... a fkn pebble will ruin your day. You have like 0 movement speed when jumping forward for some reason? I just give up and go around obstacles.

Not sure why people would actually WANT to use the jump button in this game..

Ummm, so you’re bent then? Is bunny hopping really that important to your game? Just wow, see you in Cyro I hope!

Jumping should be a skill that you have to level up. There should also be a CP tree to help out. If this was a "real" elder scrolls game, it would have been that way from the start.

I don't know whether I believe the above statement.

Nope. Just curious why so many people seem to hate or be really annoyed by it. I get why some think it looks stupid, but not why there are so many threads and comments trashing it. I don't care one way or the other about hopping when I see other players doing it in-game. If they beat me while they are hopping or I take them out while they are hopping, what different does it make? The only time I make anything significant out of it is if they are out of caster range and hopping, as that probably means they are trying to bait players into chasing them into an ambush.

Ok fair enough... I’ve seen the hopping as bait thing often enough and that doesn’t bother me. But the hopping in battle, I don’t know if it’s an exploit/advantage or not, but I think people that do it think it is ... or they wouldn’t. That’s what irritates. If it’s not an exploit or advantage, then there’s no harm to a cooldown or stam cost. And there’s zero chance ZOS will do anything anyway...

Ultimately I jump because it's fun to move around. Same reason I play sorc. Does that make slightly more sense than a super secret exploit that a large part of the population is aware of somehow?

Why are you casting while jumping? That's your problem right there. Casting mid air causes you to lose the momentum of the buff while it reapplies. Do the same test without casting mid air and it's fine
