The maintenance announcements declaring the Europe server started and then finished were two hours apart.
Based on Europe (and as long as there aren't other issues specific to the US server) we are probably looking at a two hour downtime. Fingers crossed.NA Mega-server

Vyndetta✭✭✭The argument has merit only in that it's a Friday. Unless there's some major fix happening, patching and maintenance should never happen Friday-Sunday. Those are peak playing days for many MMO'ers and terrible planning for companies.1 -

Unfortunately someone has to take the bullet for maintenance, and since NA and EU are likely their biggest audience, they sort of set the schedules, like it or not.
Yes, someone has to take a bullet for maintenance. Yes, it is usually going to be the Oceanic player-base due to population proportions.
But why a Friday?
Why not have the regular maintenance periods be on Monday and Thursday, when the majority of Oceanic players still have to be awake for work/school the next morning? It's still the same period of time between maintenance days, without causing as many issues for peak playing time.
What about people that work sat/sun? You can't please everyone....Welcome to the real world kiddo.0 -

That is EXACTLY what I am suggesting. When you only have the NA server and basically 2 very different time zone, between 2 harmful situations, a company should always chose the lesser harmful one, which they have done, and as you've seen on forums, everything is calm and serene regarding server maintenance.

Shanna✭✭✭I've noticed that East Coast (EDT) usually gets first priority out of the states time zones. 8 a.m. for them pretty much means they already have to be at work/school for the day. We on the west coast are 3 hours earlier than that. Though, granted, not being able to get my fix before work is not nearly as bad as not being able to play on a Friday night, for sure.This is all part of the game.2

f### im over being apart of the oceanic community when gaming when it comes to mmos lol, always getting screwed over Friday nights is one of the only times I get to play. its either maintenance or never getting servers despite being 2014 and having to deal with a life of lag. not really a fan of this megaserver setup would have preferred how other mmos did it better off that way, better yet like swtor and give us an oceanic server.1

I would support NA & UK if your weekends were effected - why don't you show the same courtesy to oceanic gamers & support them too?

Then they can have the server do a self-test against whatever they think is slowing things down on Monday and perform an additional maintenance if needed. And will be moved to EU datacentre sometime post-launch... why would we bother when it'll be unplayable at some undisclosed time/date?1 -

You do realize that the EU servers are in the US until a later date. That lag is all in your head.
Oceanic is a minority of the population, and this is an emergency maintenance to hopefully fix some game breaking bugs which have kept people from progressing to veteran content for a week now myself included.
Usually it will be on tuesdays, or thursdays. So suck it up, and be happy that you probably won't be affected by the groundskeeper not being intractable, or the East and West portals not spawning for 6+ hours at a time.

They always say not to feed the trolls, but hey its Friday night and I've got nothing better to do until the game comes back online after maintenance.
Unless my knowledge on how the calendar works is completely incorrect and I've been reading it wrong all this time, having Monday and Thursday maintenance periods shouldn't mess around people who have to work Saturdays or Sundays. So I suspect they'd be pretty good with maintenance not happening on a Friday night.

However, where I start and fail to understand is when you expect a MINORITY of 2-5% oceanic (aussies) of the NA player-base population, if even that, to be prioritized over more than 90% of the real player base that's actually in U.S timezone. It's quite mind boggling that your even consider it.blahblahblah
Don't overdramatise things. Nobody said "prioritise OVER"...just make it Monday and Thursday instead of Tuesday and Friday.
Monday mornings in the US are not an off-peak time. I actually see more people online Monday mornings, than I do late afternoon Friday, in any game I play. Tuesdays seem to be the universal maintenance for MMO's.

I'm not going to get too angry but I did get home eager to play and was a bit p*ssed off. They should at the very least *try* to find a time that fits for as many people as possible. I have a feeling they didn't bother though and just went what was convenient for the US. It's early days but I think an Oceanic server would be brilliant in the not-too-distant future.
On a side note can I play the EU server while the NA one is down? I tried and now it's acting like I need to download the entire game again...1
