Even players who are disappointed by faction lock will tend to grudgingly go there because they do not expect to find enough action on the other campaigns. So saying that there is a choice is hypocrisy.
This means faction lock is being forced on everyone, whether we enjoy playing for a faction or not. Until now, faction loyalists could play for their factions and others could play for their other objectives.
Faction loyalists have been asking for faction locked campaigns. It’s difficult to understand why they want everyone else to play the same way as they do, but if they want campaigns where they can be among themselves, that’s ok as long as there are also campaigns without faction lock. This is not what is being offered in this update, if it goes live as currently described.
The faction lock as currently announced will not achieve what faction loyalists hope for: since other players will be more or less forced to play in the locked campaigns there will be many players in those campaigns who will not care about the score and will pursue other objectives.
A solution that has been mentioned in many threads is soft locks: be able to play on all sides but be on the leatherboards only on one.
This is extremely disappointing for many of us as ESO players, gamers (who might consider other games) and as customers (who might unsubscribe, not play, not visit the crown store etc).
Also I believe this will not help ESO compete for the player base against other games. Versatility has always been ESO’s strength.
The faction lock is to minimise the AP farming keep flippers who spend all day ball zerging the map Red, then log in to another toon and flip it Blue, then log again and turn it Yellow. It is aimed at making the 3 banners war.... the 3 banners war and mean something, not the 1 zerg war that rotates alliances steam rolling the few playing solo/ small group.
If you want to AP farm play the 7 day, if you want a war, make a contribution or get glory, play 30 day faction locked.
Just give us Faction change tokens then I can put all my toons on 1 alliance

Stuff like that is what makes me glad there is going to faction lock. Because those little fairies are going to have make a choice to not play at all together in the same team if they want to play together or be penalized. I'm all for it.
Why would faction lock stop these behaviors? It obviously won't.
If it goes live it will just severely restrict the choices that we have, the opportunities to find good fights, to play with friends, to switch to underdog factions, etc
Its actually the right decision. If people can't see that then the whole point of pvp in this game is lost on you.

You can switch factions anytime you like, it costs AP.

That's how it was in the past. The way it's planned now you won't be able to switch with AP - you will be stuck with a faction even if the two other factions are driven to their gates and there is nothing to do.

Here is why it is the absolute wrong decision.
Faction locking hasn't been a thing for YEARS now. As more and more players enter the game they have not been concerned with what faction their character belongs to. They made a character and played the game.
Now you are saying "hey remember when faction didn't matter. Guess what it matters now." By the way. Faction change does not exist.
I have 14 characters spread across all 3 factions. Most of them have 100's ( even 1000's) or hours of play time. I am not going to start deleting characters to remake them for the proper faction that I am now going to be locked in to in order to PVP.
Any race any faction? Bit too late for that now.
indeed, what.So.
If you want faction locking that's fine BUT...
BUT..
BUT...
I want the ability to change my characters faction. Not some crown store item. But I Want a token that lets my EP characters switch to the AD (or DC) faction.
Faction change FIRST. Then you can lock the factions to your hearts content.
OR
Make it so that the faction lock is account wide and ANY character on that account (regardless of the character origin faction) can play in that campaign.
OR
Well. There are several other very good and very reasonablesolutions. All of which are 100% better than "we are locking factions, deal with it."

Faction locking does not stop overnight capping.
Faction locking does not stop spying.
Faction locking is not going to make anyone care about the campaign.
Faction locking is not going to stop zerging.
Faction locking is not going to stop the server lag.

The arguments presented by those who oppose the alliance lock aren't good enough and not realistic.
Seriously give one valid reason to not faction lock campaigns.
I wanna play with my friends. That’s what battlegrounds is for.
Why are you and your friends not on the same alliance?
This game released with faction lock and it was fine then so give a valid reason to not faction lock campaigns
Remember, there's plenty of us who swap factions to the losing side to try to balance things because we don't care about end of camp rewards, but we DO care about not gating and doing things that will ruin PvP for everyone.

And their skulls made into a chandelier
Flag campaign as AD only receive AP and rewards on AD characters and so on. If you go there on other alliance to play with friends or have good fights, so be it. But be rewarded only for contributing to the alliance you chose at the beginning of the campaign. If you don't care about alliance you fight for and the outcome of your actions, why should you be rewarded Alliance Points? Be rewarded by the fun you 're having while playing.
Everyone is happy...
Now I'd like to hear all those "I go there to play with friends only" and their opinion.
