I can understand your side but I can understand the side of people also just rushing through the dungeon.

I'd personally side with them more. You're probably joining a random dungeon or by the sounds of it, if not random, you're grouping up with memebers for the only reason to complete the dungeon and nothing about quests.

There's a simple solution here though. Simply don't do the quest when you're running the dungeon with a bunch of random people. You can always do the dungeon without accepting the quest and then come back to the dungeon at anytime to do the quest then.

Come back at a later time with some friends who will run through the dungeon at your speed and not theirs.

or come back later with friends and speed run them, works both ways each valid just have to be a little more forgiving

Of course, but you shouldn't expect random people to slow down just for you. That's why playing with friends/a guild is important for situations like this.

see that's why so many of us are asking for solo version.

becasue we don't expect people to slow down, and even when they do, there's still guilt over making them wait while you listen to dialogue. solo version would be THE best solution.

A solo version for the quests would be a pretty neat feature, would for sure knock out all these issues :D Hopefully that idea is listened to and perhaps added to the game in the future

the problem is most people who are on the same quest as me. sadly, if 1 person skip the gialogue, it skips for everyone. if it didn't skip for the group it would be nice

As I stated just before your post, form your own group of likeminded players. Guilds are great for this but even Zone works.

It is easy to do and I am speaking from experience. When everyone is on the same page the problem is solved.

Be the solution is the best way to approach life.

It does feel weird that the easily solo-able delves in zones don't have quests as long and interesting as the 4 player dungeons. It's my only real design criticism of ESO.

But there are solutions to this. Read about their premises online (the wikia?) to get a general idea or find a guild/friends/rare patience non rushing casuals to do the dungeons with, etc.

Personally, I found It didn't take too much to at least piece together the story of what's going on for most of em by just running through the dungeons based on the dialogue between some of the NPCs in the background... at least, after doing all the non-DLC dungeons 10+ times each =P

Scalecaller Peak and Fang Lair did this "passive background storytelling" really well imo.

I would hope that the new guild finder tool would help players who want to quest dungeons find (or create) guilds that encourage this. I would hope that it will see an increase in the number and visibility of the guilds doing this. Doing the quests as a group is easily the best option.

It really is fun to do dungeons slowly every now and then, when you’re not random dailying or pledging. For me it’s a totally different experience even down to your interaction with other players. A bit similar to the first few days of a new DLC when no one is totally sure how it works and finding out/coming up with a strategy is part of the joy.

Personally I’ve been way less bothered by people wanting to do quests on random normals than I have by the one self-obsessed git who runs ahead without acknowledging or waiting for the group. They really ruin other players’ fun and are a pita to be stuck with.

It can be a pain and I know exactly what you mean. But I do not agree at all with removing the story/quests. Some of them are really engaging and enjoyable.

Try telling the group at the start that you are doing the quest. Most folk will be happy to wait for a minute or two extra, which is genuinly all it takes to let someone read quest material throughout a dungeon... If you are someone who races ahead despite someone trying to do the quest, then you are not a good, social or considerate player.

I actually get fed up with folk who race ahead and I have kicked them from my dungeon groups before. If you want to do a speed run sure ask, but you cant expect everyone else to also be automatically on board with that and if they are not then you are ruining the experience for them.

I had a stellar experience the other night, the opposite of what we've all come to expect. I was hoping to farm some gear for a build and needed to kill some world bosses. I shouted out in zone chat and eventually two guys showed up. We grouped and decided to make a round of all the world bosses, even killing some more than once. I told them I was farming this gear and we got to talking about why, they looked up the build I was trying to make and offered to help me get the monster helm. I told them I hadn't done any vet content and wouldn't be familiar with the mechanics. They said that was cool and got a tank friend to come help. At that point we all mic'd up so we could talk without typing. They pointed me to the quest and another achievement in the dungeon. They didn't pressure me to run run run. They took the time to explain all the mechanics. They didn't make me feel bad for dying a few times and complimented me for being able to pull my weight. When we finally beat the last boss everyone gave me their monster helm and between us we'd gotten most of the gear I needed for the build. They didn't sell it to me. They gave it to me. Then we stuck around in the dungeon to loot/explore/make sure the quest was turned in. After that they invited me to try maelstrom arena with them but I had to get to bed. I had never met these guys before. It all started with shouting out for world boss help. It's very hard for me to link up with my guild members because I often play very late at night. Finding a random group of strangers to help me conquer my fear of vet dungeons was a very welcome surprise. I appreciate those guys so much. They dropped everything to spend a couple of hours helping a stranger. We need more like them in this game.

Why is there a timer in dungeons in the first place? If that wasn’t there, then staying until had finished quest would not be a problem.

I’m told it’s because there used to be issues with players who were kicked from the group not leaving the dungeon to grief the remaining players, who then couldn’t get a new 4th player because the instance was full.
