It looks stupid and it's not fun. I just can't stand it anymore. I can't stand how it looks. I can't stand how it feels. I can't stand how much damage I lose if I don't do it. I can't stand how much animation canceling contributes to the PvP meta being so bursty. But most of all, I can't stand how ZOS would rather semi-endorse it than to admit it's a problem because they know the technical complications involved with fixing it is more than they're willing to deal with.

    Amen

this alone kills the game for me....just no...

also people abusing it now with Macros.....

Over a year later you're gonna jump in huh?

Sometimes never is better than late

It's never too late to be a bandwagoner :p

We keep saying how valuable animations are in pvp and how AC breaks that but what answer do we get from developers? Some ally effect animations (aoe skills without synergy) cannot be seen in Cyrodiil. This isnt even an option.
The game keeps straying from its combat concept with each season.
If you want me to reply to your comment type @Ankael07 in it.

I like how people say "canceling" when it doesn't actually cancel anything. The multiple animations of the light attack, the skill, the bar swap, the roll dodge and the bash are still there. Its actually a pretty logical mechanic to the game, without it, the combat system would work at all, or at least, it won't be nearly as smooth. "Animation canceling" isn't some obscure thing from the depths of hell, its just something that is actually pretty good design in my opinion.

Otherwise, why have light attacks at all in the game? No one would use them if they were on the same global cooldown as skills. Or what if you couldn't block straight after executing a skill? You cast any skill and you'd have to wait for the global cooldown to be over (which is roughly 1 second) before you can block, and by then you'd probably be dead. Or what if you couldn't bar swap for a whole global cooldown after casting a skill? A bar swap that you absolutely need to perform in order to reach your Vigor or you Harness Magicka only happens 1 second later. The combat would be clunky and people would complain that the combat system sucks.

I personally was doing what people call "animation canceling" since I've started playing this game. It is just a logical thing to do once you understand that different functions have different priorities and therefore different global cooldowns. Hell, you don't even need to understand that, you can just tell that you're able to do a light or a heavy attack followed by a skill and do more damage than just by spamming the skill. I was also "block canceling" by pure accident when I had to block something in the middle of something.

I'm willing to bet, that if there were no guides on this on youtube and if the term itself didn't exist, no one would ever complain. And that's what would have happened if the ZOS team had actually accounted for it while they were testing their animations. Seriously, drop it already, its the one thing that makes ESO combat system so responsive.

    NECROMANCY!

But really, this is still an issue years later and it's only getting worse. I've essentially given up on the idea of doing anything high-end as it's all balanced around animation canceling rotations which all use the same skills with little in the way of class variation or differences in playstyles. It's all just jerky animation-cancling nonsense. I'd have quit the game twice over already if there wasn't the vast open world left for me to finish where I aren't pressured into having a character that twitches around like a spastic just so his dee pee ess meters are top notch. But even that is going to run out at some point.

And I don't even think about joining Cyrodil due to it all, as there you either go jerking around and twitching like you're having a seizure or you've no chance in hall in keeping up with those who do.

Is this a troll post? Obviously you will get more dps if you do WB, LA, WB,LA... than just WB thats the point of WB it grants empower... increasing the damage to your next light attack.

Also removing that would destroy PVE DPS, then lots of people would cancel their sub and stop playing.

I dont know why you have to make a post saying "uuhhhh.. Im sO gOoD, I KilL eVERyOne WiTH X pLeaSe neRf/ReMoVE X". You are suggesting to remove a mechanic that requires some skill do, you want a game of just spamming one button, roll a templar and spam beam from a zerg if you dont want to light attack.

And before you make a goodbye post, can i have your stuff?

    *sigh*

Did you REALLY need to cast forum necromancy to spread untruths (“jerking around and twitching like you're having a seizure”) and beat an incredibly dead horse?
