I'd instead complain about Warhorn until ZOS eventually nerfs it into irrelevance so that I can actually use a different ultimate without feeling gimped.

Atro and its 5sec major vuln, cmon, one necro tank can use it. 3 supports can chain horns :D

Thanks for the detailed write up! I play my DK Argonian tank wearing Ebon and Torug in normal dungeons and trials with folks from my social PVE guilds, and it doesn't sound like any of the upcoming changes will keep me from doing that. Interesting to read about a new armor for tanks, I will have to see how hard it is to get. Ebon and Torug were not hard to get.

what would you say about the new Immobilization Immunity introduced in Elsweyr, and impact on tanking? I fear that packing up trash mobs will become much more of annoyance now that talons will be giving all affected mobs three seconds of immunity after the effect ends.

Anyone already tried that on PTS, by the way? How does it feel? Did the change affect mobs, or - one can hope - it's only for enemy players?

I just tested it. Mobs have root immunity after the root is finished. It doesn't matter if you let it run out of refresh before it does. They just get immunity. So if you are going to use an AOE Root, you want to use one that has long duration, like Bombard.

Yeah, Necro Tank with Atro is definitely a viable choice if you already have 3 Warhorns from other 3 supports. In order to be used best, it requires some communication with the team though. You want to drop it 2-3 seconds after you pull the boss to give your DDs time to apply all their debuffs so they get the most benefit. Also on cooldown once everyone starts executing. You could get an insane burst if timed right but as I said, you have to time it right ^^

You can get imperfect from normal mode easily. Perfect Armour pieces drop from first 2 bosses (non HM) while weapons and jewelry drop from last boss, again in non HM.

I don't believe Atro refreshes the Vuln upon the 2nd and 3rd attack, only the initial hit ever procced it for me. Whether that was a bug or not IDK, but it only lasted 3 seconds for me. That also only applies to Necro Tanks, so RIP the other 5 classes.

I'm fine with Warhorn being useful, but I wish that it wasn't such an overwhelmingly superior skill for support to use vs almost all other alternatives.

    From 5.0.1:

    Flesh Colossus:
Pestilent Colossus (morph): Fixed an issue where the 2nd and 3rd smash from this attack was not applying Major Vulnerability.

Ok, so it was just glitched when I tested it. Regardless, point still stands that it's a Necro exclusive skill though.

But the notion that tanks are limited to what viable sets they have available is laughable at best. Most people, for whatever reason, just don't want to be different than what players like OP or Alcast say is the meta.

No one here is telling you what to use when tanking. OP is the tank class rep and laid out what he thinks will give the best performance in the next update. This of course makes two assumptions: 1) you are interested in performance, and 2) you know how to tank.

If groups are still learning and progressing, you should obviously choose sets that best lets you progress and learn. If as tank you cannot survive w/o selfish sets, then you should use selfish sets.
