Let me share my experience and what i have found to work best on my stamplar.
I have experimented different versions regarding weapons and found that 1h+shield is a must if i want to be confident in myself as a solo player. If you don't play with premades i have found that focusing your build around dueling is your best bet.
Here are the sets i find work best:
1. Defense:
- Armor Master or Fortified Brass (5 piece, weapons should be in this set so you get the def traits on both bars)
2. Dmg:
- Hundings Rage (There are other good ones you can use , it's up to you, critical is important since i found that a nirnhoned 2h mace works best for me. You will be around 35-38% crit with a nirnhoned weapon, however don't forget your critical passive you get from Jabs , you will reach 45% easy )
3. Monster 2 piece Set:
- Selene works great if you want dmg
- Sellistrix is really good
- Blood spawn ofc, however you already would be at capped resistance so i would not recommend it with the above sets (good combo with another set focused more on sustain) , you can use the ult gain esp in combo with nord
- Stormfist is really great
- Slimecraw is a good combo with a mace or nirnhoned greatsword
- My favorite is Troll king , though in bgs your stam regen will be a bit lower so i would run 2 pieces that give stam regen each
4. Weapon poison is good but you wont be dependent on it.

On my damage bar i run:
Slot 1 : rally (you need it , momentum is not an option lol trust me i tried)
Slot 2 : Reverse Slice (I find it better with the splash dmg, The single target morph work great also)
Slot 3 : Dizzying Swing (Don't spam it mindlessly, find the right moment to use it. )
Slot 4 : Jabs Ofc (spam to your hearths content )
Slot 5 : Power of the light (Amazing skill, only real way you can achieve scary burst and catch people off guard)
ULT : Dawnbreaker of Smiting (dont underestimate that aoe stun, you can't imagine how many fights you can win for your team)
Sustain bar:
Slot 1: Meditate or Repentance
Slot 2 : Vigor (only decent heal we can use)
Slot 3 : Invasion (A good variation is to get Reverberating Bash and switch dizzying swing with stampede or critical rush )
Slot 4 : Extended ritual (our great class cleanse love it)
Slot 5 : Restoring Focus (when you buff up you should reach caped resists )
Ult : Werewolf (nice stam regen and you can really surprise some people with it, if you find your self not tanky enough , use Empowering Sweep)
Side Notes :
- Make sure you have at least 2k crit resist
- At least 30k stamina
- Lover Mundus is good
- armor pieces should be 5 medium 2 heavy or 5 medium , 1 heavy , 1light (for undaunted passive )
- if your resists are over 32k after buff dont invest any cp in them go for % dmg mitigation (not important for bg but for those who like dueling)
- Invasion and Dizzy are the skills i like to switch out to experiment. Traps work good with invasion btw. Stun them , put a trap instantly and immobilize them, drains stamina like crazy if they break free)
