Back in November Rob gave us a heads up for U12 with the racial pass we already saw and that the combat team was working on "codifying our vision and long-term strategy for combat."

The implementation for the racial change were communicated well. However, and I may have missed it, I have not seen any new communication concerning this the progress for "codified" combat for ESO. The changes we are seeing really look like changes Zos normally makes so I can only assume the combat team has not finished this work.

So my question is when will we get an update on this new "vision and strategy for combat"? If I have missed this from a post Zos made or an ESO live please provide the link.

Thank you because IDK.

Edit: some seem to clearly miss the point. Zos is not updating us on the work for their vision. If they choose to not shed light on this work then we have no reason to expect any difference in how they manage combat in this game than what we have gotten the past 5 years.

So Zos may be "cleaning things up but that is not necessary a vision but doing what should have been done from the start. Zos has a history of waffling on skill designs. Remember they double downed on the Templar Javelin knockback then less than a year later they totally removed it.

This is why I ask if they have actually communicated their progress. We can only guess from reading the patch notes, but cannot get close to a full picture from that.

Further, those of us that have been around for awhile remember when Zos added the CP system. They communicated with us that they would be making changes to the game over a couple or few updates preparing it for the addition of the CP system. They were also candid that they had not figured out how they would finalize the removal of the vet ranks since CP was to replace it. Of course it took them a year and a half to two years to actually figure that last part out.

They make it clear that they are pushing all abilities into specific categories (PBAoE, Spammable, Dot, etc.) and making all abilities in those categories equal using defined guidelines. Sounds like codifying to me.

Yeah lot's of streamlining in the Elsweyr patchnotes. Getting rid of many awkward decimals and percentage numbers as well as properly categorizing abilities. It's also just a first pass so there will be more coming in that regard. Passives will most likely also be tackled as they said in ESO live I think.

Yeah. And if nothing else, just look at patch notes. They have become very hesitant with wild changes and additions: the new sets are basically 'magicka vicious serpent', 'minor changes to existing sets', skills get small nerfs and changes, etc...

IMO makes the game more bland perhaps, and I don´t think the whining will stop. But ah well, not a bad idea all in all. I guess I prefer it to the 'let´s increase the effectiveness of 1h enchantments tremendously and right afterwards cut them in half while pretending noone could foresee any of the consequences', which just makes me waste gold tempers more than usual.

I still feel for the people who farmed and theorycrafted trainee armour way back before it got pulverized by the nerfhammer. <3

I feel the racial changes were very hit and miss. The changes for the Bretons and Orcs seem well thought out. But the changes to Altmers were a bit odd, and Bosmer's might as well have a "THIS RACE IS INTENDED FOR PVP ONLY" warning sign stamped on it.

I am also interested in what the "vision" is, but I am not even sure they know what it is. And adding things piecemeal is not helping. I am getting the impression they want to hyper specialize each race and class, instead of giving each race and class a more broad use.

Yet it does not give us any indication of the big picture of this new "vision" Zos has.

Should we expect more implantation of this "vision" over the next few updates? Has Zos even finished "codifying" their vision.

Without that these changes really just look like their normal changes. Without that Zos can pretend they have a vision but in the end we get 5 more years of heavy changes like we have.

Funniest is when Zos double downed on the javelin knockback then removed it in a later update less than a year later. It is things like this that are reasons this question, asking for Zos to update us, is a great idea.

I think these changes were gernarally much better and cleaner than their usual changes. For the most part there were no unnecessary "Lets cut it in half" nerfs, and only a couple of silly nerfs (food nerf). Most of the changes felt much more tempered.

Its Altmer. The plural of Altmer is still Altmer. One Altmer, many Altmer. This rule applies to all _mer names (Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Dwemer, Maormer, etc.)

But is this the end of it. Does anyone really care?
