Daedric Prey: Damage Reduction Feedback for PvE

Cost reduction instead of damage isn't really needed on a Pet Sorc rotation, which generally uses heavy attacks. The additional loss of 15% pet damage while active is a big hit to the PvE Pet Sorc builds.

Daedric Prey (morph): Reworked the ability rank up of this ability.
  • Instead of gaining 1.1% damage on the explosion per rank, this ability becomes cheaper as it ranks up. The final cost is now 2160 at base, down from 2430, but will deal 3.3% less damage overall.
  • Added a pet taunt functionality to this ability that is similar to the one built into Heavy Attacks. Your active pets will now prioritize targets with Daedric Prey on them.
  • Reduced the damage bonus for pets from this ability to 40% from 55%.
  • Fixed an issue where the Summon Unstable Familiar's damage pulse was not being affected by this ability. Note that the morphed version, Volatile Familiar, was already working properly.[/i]

What are the community's thoughts on this from a PvE perspective?

Will I be able to use clanfear as a tank pet for reals?

It isn't a 15% damage nerf to pets as you stated.
It's a 15% reduction in the BUFF they get from daedric prey... So not as bad as you think.

I think taunt in this case means that your pets will attack whoever has Daedric Prey on them--not that the pets will tank the mobs for you.

    I might be wrong tho.

First of all, heavy attack petsorcs lost their popularity with Wrathstone petfix. Duo Inferno petsorc is what rockz now so the cost reduction is somewhat helpful. Also the taunt function on Daedric Prey is a welcomed addition.

The 15% damage reduction on pets is definitely a nerf but I don't think that it will be horribly significant. At least the ability is now consistent in what it does, not like before where some pets got 55% increase and some 40%.

While not a pleasant change, I can more than endure this after the good damage buffs which pets got during Wrathstone.
15% is acceptable, if that is all the blood they draw from us. And well, daedric prey is now as good as free and the automatic pet taunt will help many people.

    I'm surprised ZoS didn't make it so this skill increases the pet bonus damage per level, say;
    • I : 40%
    • II : 45%
    • III: 50%
    • IV: 55%

LL/Flood got a huge buff, sorc got big sustain buffs, this is more than acceptable to me. If you're just using matriarch its just a tad less damage on the twilight, not even the atronach which was already 40%. If you're using both pets its a bit bigger loss I suppose but imo scamp is pretty suboptimal in at least DLC raids most of the time and its still not a huge deal. Sorcs are getting net buffed imo.

Non-Atronach pet damage goes from 155% of tooltip to 140% of tooltip, so it's about a 10% reduction, which is a several percent reduction to overall DPS, at least for dual-pet sorcerers.
