fight difficulty

jackalpup83b14_ESO
ESO wants us to work together, they said so on many occasions...but when questing with a friend everything is so easy to kill it is ridiculous. mobs may as well not even be there. things are pretty easy solo, but with a friend you have to go to areas three times higher than you are to get any fun out of fighting, and then you get loot you can't use yet. if you have three or four people in your group, forget having fun all together. you may as well just be walking across the land, things die so fast.

me and my two friends have to find skulls to do that are two levels higher than us to have any kind of a challenge at all, and even then it it worthless because there are always two or three other people there at least and sometimes the bosses die so fast it is hard to get a hit in on them to get credit for the kill.

this is the same with the smaller anchor events. when one opens the bosses in them are too easy for the three of us and it is just terrible if anyone else happens to be around.

the larger anchors i haven't gotten to do yet because they have all been bugged, but i remember in the betas that, once one landed, everyone would show up quickly and roll over the bosses like they were mudcrabs. it was hard to get hits on them because they died so fast! i never even got to see what the main end boss of them look like because they pop up and drop dead.

also with torches. even having just two or three more people in them with us makes them no fun. if your group isn't fast enough and the other group goes first there is nothing to kill in them. if you stick together you may as well just be running through it.

it would be nice to see less people in torches. like maybe a max of four or two groups at the very most. a check to see if you are in a group and adjust accordingly. they aren't very fun when all they are is a long walk to get to the skyshard. may as well just give me the skyshard and not make me go inside.

also i hope they make anchor bosses harder and bigger. or simply account for the number of people at the event and spawn higher level monsters accordingly. Rift did this, the code exists. if there are 5 players, smaller boss, if there are 15 players there, then a huge boss spawns with like a million HP and crazy AE effects that actually make people play the game.

but how would a good balance be struck against solo players vs parties of 2-4? how can it be fair to a solo player to fight the same mobs as a group of friends? i can't wait for endgame areas made specifically for groups of players, but it would be nice to see areas like that in every level of play.

i want to level with my friends, but i want a fun challenge and to actually USE my cool abilities. we never need to root, dodge, power attack, snare, sleep, synergy, etc. anything because they all die much too quickly with our simple quickest cast abilities.

you want.... things are too easy
I want.... things are just right.

you want to group... things are too easy
I want to solo...things are just right

    what now?

I could go on like that forever....
However, since i have no solution either....
    What is the point?
Make the best out of things as they are....maybe.

I think a scaling code would really benefit everyone.
I am personally having a hard time clearing most places solo, or even killing a single boss solo. Most things tear me apart 6 times before I get them down. This all adds up to problems, I am leveling slowly, I have no gold to spend because I have to repair all my items all the time.

When there is another group nearby however it seems like I am struggling with wrestling a toddler to the ground..

I agree. Boss battles at the end of public dungeons are ridiculous. Growl! I am the high and mighty lord of .. SPLAT! Anchor battles, bad guys drop like flies. gotta spam my attack buttons just to land a hit and feel like I contributed. No fun if there is no risk.

Agree with OP. Fights are ridiculously easy even solo, no challenge, no fun. I really hope this game will not get the path the WoW did (No Brain - No Pain).

I agree entirely that torch dungeons and Anchors need to be addressed but as far as other things it should be left alone if they move the scale one way or the other it will hurt the balance for either soloers or groupers, sadly there will be no way to please both fully; both have to be willing to compromise.

God help your souls when you hit vr content. Lol it's like going from normal to legendary on halo.

VR is significantly harder, but if things go the way they are going in normal content right now, masses of players will just faceroll everything and there won't really be any challenge.

Plenty of people are having difficulties, especially with some questline bosses. Not everyone is equally skilled, so I'd say the current challenge is ok.
PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!. Outfit slots not being accountwide is ridiculous given their price. PC EU/PC NA roleplayer and solo PvE quester

I'm ok with the difficulty of the mobs in a lot of the quests and such, its the fact that there is no apparent scaling to meet the number and/or aggregate level of the players present that can make the content disappointing.

cloth wearing people trying to solo have trouble. people who spend points in crafting and not CCs to help their solo play have trouble. true it has to do with skill, that is the problem. these people should be able to have fun, too. the game actually needs to lean more in their favor because if it is too hard it is definitely no fun and they can't move on, at least groups of people can progress, even though it is no fun and we don't get to use our abilities for anything because things die so fast.

i do like the skull and crossbone areas on the map, i wish there were more. they can kind of suck when there are a bunch of people at them, but on occasion we run across one that the boss just respawned in and the last group moved on. i am glad the bosses respawn so quickly in them, sometimes.

i am just so sad that this game has really cool mechanics in telegraphs that make you move and dodge and block, then it is ruined by grouping and too many people being around...and that is what they encourage! i don't think they thought about that when they were creating it. i believe in their minds only a few people would be doing anchors and you would be running around with one friend, torches would have maybe 4 people tops in them....i don't know where they would think that, sometimes i wonder if the creators of the game have ever played an MMO before.

i watched a video of the devs doing an anchor event. there were only three of them there and they were doing well. did they ever stop to think that when an anchor lands that 20 people will be rushing in?

The anchors are the worst. factor in the lag, and the bad guys are dead before you can even see them.
