Why can't I use this name on a character? (Mystery Solved)

Here I am trying to save my nercomancer names, but I have run into new issue of invalid username not taken for sleeping mind and variations do not work either

It was going to my nerco tank and a pun at tank sleeping on the job and it's zombie mode like ultimate.

It's not a taken name, but invalid name so what do you guys think is the reason

I made lots of claims to solving this but @TequilaFire has brought the light to situation, but answer would not of been possible without many of you.

Ing + space+ m starting word is banned

Tasear has saved sleeping-mind and goes back to happiness and hype for nercomancers.

The list of offensive stuff is really long. My actual name is 'Christian', and I like to name my TES characters 'Christian XXXXXXX' (like Christian Crimson etc, stuff like that), however I can´t in ESO because 'Christian' is not allowed (probably because it doubles as the religious adjective). I also had an invalid name because letters inside the name accidentally spelled out, I dont recall, some term for the female genitalia or similar

Considering the amount of offensive, ridiculous or defaming names I DO see in ESO, bit much really. Try adding an apostrophe or something in the game, but beware, they could ban you for circumventing the system or something... Or try 'sleeping as my mind', 'sleepy mind', something like that.

To answer the question,

After a few tests, I have solved riddle. The word sleeping even with accents is banned. So no sleeping cat, no sleeping monster, etc

In hindsight I get why, but this kinda of ridiculous ban on a word. I had no I'll intent with my name. I just wanted more poetic name.

Okay I jumped to conclusions...

I had some wonderful alternatives and I am come to realize. It isn't sleeping banned but any word that ends with - ing as the first word in name is banned.

I am just saving the name now or at least checking cause it takes a lot of time to think of names I want.

I agree. Names are everything to making that perfect character. I've deleted a fully maxed character because the name was ....eh

Truly baffling that we have "unique names" in a game with @handles. no reason for that to be a thing.

Some people use the names for RP purposes.

I got tired of seeing stupid names left and right, so I use @handle now.

Thanks I took sleepy mind for now. Not sure if it's what I will keep later for for now claimed it.

The words that are restricted is absolutely ridiculous, like actual medical terminology for body parts for instance. But not even that, its words within words, words that span two words etc, its totally OTT.

My brothers online name is "Analogmunky". As in, analog/digital and munky as in monkey. On almost every platform he needs to ask for special dispensation to use the name hes had since a kid, and it is often not granted. Because of course as you may have spotted the first 4 letters spell a medical term now commonly used as naughty slang, tsk tsk.

Its actually one of the reasons he left ESO, he wants his name for his account and they would not let him.

Yeah fair enough but sleeping is common term. Only issue is words joined with it. That should of been left to reporting system instead of banning word for just sleeping. Sleeping on it's own does not fall under bad jargon.

Total guess, but it may be "eping", rather then the full "sleeping" causing the issue. It's a term having to do with mothers feeding their children naturally. Ridiculous that it wouldn't be allowed though.

Nothing is worst than coming up with the seemingly perfect name for a character and then its taken or in your case invalid. Everything happens for a reason I suppose.

I want to ban ZOS from using my names! Was a huge let down for me when ZOS put an NPC with my characters first name in the game because it wasn't unique anymore >:(

Because the profanity filter is not very good. My guess is it is sleeping mind, gm is probably disallowed in names to make sure no one impersonates a gm. I mean that is a good idea, but the execution is not so good. It's the same when you write "whisper me". The bolded will be filtered away, but that's silly considering the phrase. You often see it filtered away in guild ads or wts's/wtb's in zone chat.

It IS a little ridicolous, but then... so are many things. Usually because some jerk abused words to ill effect in the past...

I remember hearing laments from a friend of mine, a incorrigeable Khajiit-lover who once upon a time wanted to use a feline designation starting with "P" and to her surprise and vexation found that the first half of it is also a slang for the female genitalia in the english language and thus frowned upon by the system... but at least "Kittycat" was no issue.

And therein lies the solution - find and try something else that says the same thing you want but is not banned. "Somnic" instead of Sleeping, perhaps? Something like that, to still get you that poetic name you aim for without raising the ise of the censor function... languages can help there, like, "going latin" for what you want to call your character - "Dormiens Mente" sounds very imperial, does it not, but in the end is just using google translator on "sleeping mind", so... an decent option, right?

Another possibility is using phonetics... a "fantasy name" word that sounds a bit like the one you want, but is written quite differently, like... "Slih-Pyng Moynth" for example. Has the advantage of looking all "immersive" ans stuffs, with still hiding the giggle once someone gets it...

How-ever... all that can be an issue if you use the techniques to hide something rude and naughty, as any human who takes a closer look at it (like, if it should get reported when another player notices what you did there) will of course see what the auto-censor functions cannot... so don't do that sort of thing, 'kay?

It's anything with "sleeping" that exact version is banned. 🙁 Sleepy doesn't sound as cool as sleeping mind.

That's thing who is world would report sleeping mind? The situation is different from hiding a bad word so to speak. I honestly believe this name should not be banned by profanity filter.

1) it's not a profane word like famous cuss words
2) It's a English root word
3) sleepy, nor sleeps banned.

You could do a lot worst with sleeps + something then sleeping

Only thing I could think was sleeping with someone. There is no strong contation with word just this word alone. In fact, sleepy and sleeps is allowed.

Frankly I am upset, because it just so silly and unfortunately I feel in love with the name. I was really looking forward to my nercomancer tank having this name
