I'm torn between two options. One is to re-make my existing 'evil' character, a bosmer who is currently a nightblade. Necromancy would be a perfect addition to his theme, but I'm not sure I want to do Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests without the nightblade's stealth options.

The other possibility is a new character, a female altmer. I've got a whole theme and a backstory worked out for her, even a name, and I think she'd be an interesting character but I'm not sure how much of her personality would really come through in the game given the limited options for dialogue and choices, or that she's a character I'd actually enjoy playing often. Combined with the fact that I don't have much time for ESO as it is and this would be my 8th character I'm worried I'd just end up making one I don't ever play.

I think I'll have to try making both on the PTS and see which one works best for me.

A pragmatic Khajiit who's moral ambiguity has been a source of contention throughout her life. Necromancy isn't inherently evil to her but the ramifications of having her soul confiscated-- I will be progressing in a linear fashion with her--has provoked her vindictive side and she holds the living in utter contempt due to her indignation. I'll RP her descent into depravity as I progress then I'll redeem her somehow before we encroach upon elsweyr's storyline.

I could create a Altmer or Dunmer but It's too monotonous after playing through with a sorcerer Altmer and a Nightblade Dunmer.

An over indulged house cat who exudes affluence is the appearance descriptor I'll try to capture.

Probably a Dunmer who doesn't even get why his practices are outlawed. I mean, come on, since when is it illegal to summon your ancestors to hold counsel or request their help in battle ? This is an outrage !

And / or maybe an Imperial. Because of course, an Imperial.

One I’ll delete after several hours of play time since I already have a main character with thousands of hours/achievements invested and no access to changing classes.

What type of Necromancer will I create?

Necromancer that does not have to spam ''F" keyboard for hours and is instantly ported to a dungeon or battleground once a group is found.

JK .. I am not going to buy Elsweyr or play eso if the bugs like group finder tool are not fixed rather soon.

I will most likely make a mag dps. Lots of corpse generation. Gear TBD.

An arrogant Altmer that is a former worm cultist. Will be pragmatic and only concerned about themselves and will become an accidental hero.

Dark Elf, Vampiric, Nerco.

His name shall be Nekromancer ool. I couldn't use numbers in his name, but it's a throwback to EQ1. "You were killed by ....Nekromancer 001!"

People said the same thing about Wardens. Or have we forgotten when Wardens hit PTS people were screaming P2W? They were most definitely not P2W. My magden was gutted and struggles to pull the numbers my magblade pulls. After a few patches they became good in pvp but nothing close to P2W.

Necromancers will be the same. They look powerful now.... but I bet they won't be that way by the end of the PTS cycle. The devs want people to buy the new dlc for the new class, but won't make them over powered. I think most people scream P2W simply because they are looking for an excuse to moan or to find a reason not to buy the new dlc.

I think it's partially a marketing thing - of course they want the necromancer to look as cool as possible in all the promotional material so people want to buy the expansion, but then it also looks like it's amazing at everything and some people assume it will be that OP in the actual game.

Reminds me of the build up to Guild Wars 2 being released. They announced classes one at a time and each one had a series of short videos showing off some of their skills. Of course they almost always one-hit killed the enemies in those videos because it would be a bit anti-climatic if they used their awesome skill and then had to use a bunch of auto-attacks to actually finish it off. (I suspect they actually spawned in special low level/low health versions of the enemies for some of them.)

That lead to people crying that every new class announced was OP, would be the only thing anyone played and would dominate all game modes. Even though they'd said the same about another class the month before, and another one the month before that. This lead to an April Fools joke where they announced the 'Commando' class which really would be OP - they had modern military weaponry, no range restrictions, could call down an airstrike and summon a tank to ride in, amongst other things.
