Add it as an exception in your AV?

I am having the same problem.

I went into my Anti-Virus Avast and made exceptions for
Steam and the launcher specifically and I still couldn't get it to update.

I also restarted my computer. no luck.

I also had that problem this morning, put "http://patcher.elderscrollsonline.com/" (without the quotation marks) as an exception in my antivirus and then it started working again

Should mention that this fix was for the Avast Anitvirus, hopefully it works for you guys too.

Edit: Edited it again to show http instead of https!

I had similar issue in the past with other anti-virus... Now I know it may sound dumb, but have you tried to run eso launcher "as an admin" ?

Hmm I just tried that and it blocked it despite that being the correct URL it says it's blocking :s. Run as admin also didn't seem to work :s.

I haven't had any problem with my anti-virus for this game for any other patch.

    Edit:
ah Ha! using http instead of https did infact work!!

Oh yeah sorry, i didnt see it created two different exceptions. One has http and the other is https. I just typed in patcher.elderscrollsonline.com and it kinda just added that to the start by itself! :)

I tried the http and https and it still blocked both. However, the patcher.elderscrollsonline.com worked for me. Thank you, everyone.

    What if avast is right?

What if someone is trying to install malware?

Chances of that happening are more than 0% to be honest.

I am seeing the same issue with the launcher. I was able to launch the game directly and login successfully without the update.

I also had this URL blacklist issue with AVG this morning.
Adding it to exceptions did not seem to work.
Ended up using the internet security equivalent of the pull out method.
Toggled off AVG, updated the launcher, toggled on AVG.

You have to add it to exceptions for AVG's web shield specifically. Web Shield apparently ignores the general settings exceptions...

    In AVG go to
    >Menu
    >Settings
    >Components

Find Web Shield and click on it's CUSTOMISE button
    Click Exceptions

In the 'URLs to exclude' section add

    patcher.elderscrollsonline.com

We shouldn't have to change AV settings for what is a ZOS or however hosts their site problem. They need to see why they are showing up on the blacklist and take steps to correct it.

I sent in a false error report to Avast last week. Received this response today from their support:
Hello and thank you for reporting this,

Our virus specialists have been working on this problem and it has now been resolved. The provided website isn't detected by Avast anymore.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I've since tested and was able to update the launcher.
