We’ll see what they decide to do. A lot of assumptions are being made about ZoS’s intent and whatnot. Will they even read this thread?

It’s a little presumptuous to think any suggestions will be put in game.

I truly hope they do check this thread out.
Even if they will not copy paste ideas here directly, it's the inspiration which matters. They may implement changes the way they see to be more fitting, but at the end that's all that matters: hearing us out.

And what comes with these suggestions, I must say I like that idea of "Aura of Darkness."
Earlier I was thinking that designing Double-Take to function as a damage shield would've been logical, but that would've left mag NBs in tricky situation where they would've had to choose between minor resolve/minor ward (Mirage) versus actual damage shield (Re-designed Double Take). However if path would be re-designed instead, that problem would be solved and NBs could get minor ward and actual damage shield out of different class skills.
Best part of this shield is that if we get working damage shield as a class skill for magicka Nightblades, many of us could throw healing ward out of window and finally get out of that pigeonhole which is forcing to use restoration staff.
This change alone would give mag NBs freedom to use other weapons they would prefer more. :)
I'm speaking purely from perspective of solo mag NB PvP player. I'm not expert what comes with PvE, so I won't comment effects which these suggested changes may have towards PvE crowd.

Path of darkness (specifically twisted path) is mainly used in PvE for an additional ground based DoT. It's true that removing this from a mag NB's arsenal will undoubtedly affect their DPS numbers.

That being said, the current trial meta right now is stacking the team with as many mag NB damage dealers as possible because they are pulling the highest dps numbers (if you ignore the warden double bow spider synergy builds). The removal of minor berserk from gim focus was an effort to resolve this (I'm speculating, because mag NB didn't need the hit in PvP), but it ultimately falls short because healers in trials are running combat prayer with minor berserk anyway.

Removing this additional ground AoE from the mag NB arsenal should bring their dps numbers down just enough to be more in line with the rest of the classes.

I see. It's understandable that it's hard to balance the game without these changes affecting one way or another PvE/PvP.
However since developers seemed to have decided to shake the meta even more with balance changes (by for example removing that minor berserker from Grim Focus and its morphs), I still see these discussions and suggestions insightful.
If developers can manage to make compromises and find middleground with balance changes, they could still implement adjustments on skills which could turn out to be huge QOL - improvements. :)

They should make a balance change to sorc where they can have 15K Shields that also have 24-30k resistances and retain their insane burst, so that they can survive even at 3K health in the open no problem and still be able to kill a target in one quick rotation while the shield is up without worrying about healing.
    Oh....wait.... That was last patch
    NVM, carry on
