I just reduced the crafting to my account mains and whichever lower levels need some easy XP. Then I started a new Bosmer magsorc, and I've been leveling her some.

    I won't be doing the dailies 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks. I need some sanity game-play time.

The events were cool the first time they came around, I participated and got the achievements, it was kind of fun.

It got old pretty fast, so now I don't even read the advertisement banners or have any knowledge of any events, crown crate seasons, featured crown store items, or literally any advertisements ZOS attempts to show me. I don't even look at it. I don't think about it. I don't care about it.

When I get over saturated with advertisements, I just completely disengage from the marketing efforts. I'm pretty much only aware of new expansions and DLC because I'm an officer in a raiding guild, and the other officers let me know.

    LOL, OP :D

All I know is with this constant parade of FOMO crap everywhere you turn, this game is turning into an MMMO*. I've taken four or five days off in the last two weeks, when I used to log in daily. Just feeling the event pressure is starting to make me dread pushing the PLAY button, and all I'm doing are a couple crafty things on my main and eating cake :/

    *Making Me Miss Out

ZOS are maintaining a 50% uptime on in-game events for 2019 so far. Not a bad improvement from not even wanting in-game events a couple years back. And honestly, it sucks. I much preferred logging in when I wasn't heavy encouraged to participate in a limited time event whereas now I log in, do the barest minimum and then leave again - to the point I feel more burned out despite spending less time in the game.

Yeah, it does suck. A lot. I'm not really participating much, but I'm still noticing a few things happening.

    1. Decision fatigue. I eat cake for the buff. I don't want indriks, but I still end up trying to figure out how not to waste event tix. What if I get the Prophet's robe turning in dailies and I've shoved my overloaded ticket collection into getting it from the vendor? Then I end up feeling cheated and bummed when I don't actually want anything. I don't even use outfits!

    2. Inflated reward expectations. I'm getting way too used to buffed XP gains and quest awards. They feel right and proper, even though they're temporary. I'm at CP 675 now, the XP per point is insanely high, and I'm not going to be able to finish the grind before this event ends. After a couple of weeks of 2x the normal, I'm already used to making decent progress each day. In four weeks, questing's going to feel terrible. Agonizingly slow.

Logging in at the end of this event is going to royally bite. Not looking forward to it.

Companies do it because it works.

Only up to a point, and ESO sailed past that at breakneck speed quite some time ago. In relation to ESO "limited time only" has become background noise to me.

Have I spent money on a few limited time only things? Yes. But I didn't buy them because they were limited time only.

And I've seen it backfire spectacularly.

I saw the elk mount coming in datamines and bought heavily discounted crowns in preparation. And sat on them. So the outrageous 4500 crown price worked out to be a not too bad $20. I bought one.

I befriended a new player to the game after helping them with a world boss. They saw my npc banker - another discounted crown purchase - and bought one full price. Also subbed. They were throwing money at the game and prepared to throw even more.

But then they asked about where to buy my elk. I had to tell them it was limited time only, and very few such mounts had ever made a comeback. Instead they return only in gambling boxes. So they'd either have to wait an unknown amount of time for them to maybe turn up in crates - not every mount had, eg. glow kitty - then spend an unknowable amount of money gambling for them.

They were very put out, and stopped playing.

    Yup.

Never did get an answer from ZOS regarding the whole Indrik Mount thing.

Are they a one time thing, and you need to get just about every available ticket in order to get all the nascents for the four evolutions, plus an additional nascent, and now the pets too!

Or will they be available year-after-year?

The events are seriously out of control. There is less time without an event than there is with an event.
I don't mind the events in general, as they promote playing older content that is otherwise quite barren of players. But having 2 weeks of Jester Event followed by 1 week break before starting a FIVE week long Anniversay Event ... 5 weeks.

That 70 to 72 Event tickets. Why not just hand them out as a login reward at this point? I mean it's not like eating the cake once per day is much more effort than just logging in. I know this is done so people can get the 4 feathers again so they can get their next Indrik. But why is that even necessary? You could have kept the young Indrik in the collection and just added the evolved once once you got the 4 berries for each.

HAHAHA! I totally relate to you OP. I'm a returning player, and boy is it hard catch up on this game. I mean, I suppose one thing everyone was complaining about in the past was the lack of content, but now it's just too much content. I never thought I'd say this, but I wish there was some sort of a breathing room. I often think these days, I wish there are times when ZOS just don't give out content for a while, just for me to at least get somethings done. And I have like 11 alts. Hahahaha.

Once upon a time we played games to have fun. It seems many now play them to claim victim status.

Whoa is me, I play a game with optional purchases for a limited time. If you've ever bought anything on sale ever, anywhere, you've taken part in the same practice.

I don't mind things coming and going out of season. So long as they will be back.

So these events, if time is of the essence, that is fine. If there was 1 event a year, where everything is up for grabs, that would make up for it. I could imagine having 3 berries and 8 tickets, the day before it switched off, I'd be pissed.

While none of us are forced to participate in events or purchase/grind limited time offers I think many also don’t want to feel they have missed out on something. For some time now I have felt events and promotions are never ending and are becoming overwhelming. I look forward to the rare few days between events/promotions when I feel I can just play the game and not feel obligated to participate in the same repetitive quests I did last year for a new title/emote/memento. Events/promotions should be done once in a while to make them feel like they are adding value and something new to the game instead of just being thrown at us all the time so they feel more like laborious chores.

I have event fatigue. And remember, each event will be at least 11 days long from here on out so as to enable people to buy 1 berry, 1 feather, and a couple tix spare each time.

Yeah I also much prefer that.

GW2 has had lots of limited time sales but they were never a case of "now or never". Having missed such a sale was never a reason for me to stop playing. If I really wanted something I knew it would be available again eventually.

To me it's like this with this limited thing. First of all I have limited time in the day to spend on playing the game and I have to decide what to spend it on. I pick ESO because I enjoy it. In ESO there's a number of activities to pick. Quite a few of them are activities I do enjoy. Here are my options:
    - I can do some questing as I am a little behind, as I still haven't touched Summerset and Elsweyr is just around the corner. But because of my limited time I haven't ever done Covenant and Pact storylines. I do like to experience stories in order, I skipped around in ESO before and regreted it a bit as I like those small easter eggs and such that are placed there for players following the story (I did Morrowind and Clockwork and then Orsinium and regret a bit that I didn't do them in order).
So long story short I'm doing Cadwell's Silver now questwise, then I'll move to Gold and then to Summerset and ideally I'd like to do those before Elsweyr comes out. And yet, there's not a time limit on that, worst case scenario I'll do those afeter Elswer.
    Phew, that came out long.
    - Next, are the activities I just enjoy, like battlegrounds, preparing for dungeons as I'd like to try vet ones, a bit of farming since I want this sweet new house etc. Not really a time limit on those either.
    - And finally the events, which I enjoyed quite a bit and invested quite a lot of time in. I have two indriks, one berry, two feathers and eight tickets. I'm in over the heels and I like getting stuff I normally can't get, like motifs and furnishing schematics. There's been quite a lot of those lately and they are limited time, I can't do them later like the stuff above. They are limited. And that's the crux of the problem. The events are fine, fun but there's just been a little to much of them and they take up the time spent on other things as they end and we don't know if they return next year.
So that's not THAT big of a problem for me, I don't cry about it, but I understand why people can feel burned out by that as I do feel that too, a little. The events, while fun, take the time spent in actually playing the game as you can't postphone them for later, like you can do with other activities.

As for Crown Store limiting, yeah, it sucks. You can't manage your entertainment budget with those unclear sale periods, with those showcases that don't give us prices in advance and other stuff like that. I'd probably be buying something every month if everything was available all the time, now I'm not gonna get coersed into spending extra just because of an arbitrary limited sale. I spend as much as I want to spend, wave other things goodbye, and then look at bare store for months before there's something that I like in it. It's less than optimal. And I refuse to give into the scam boxes, don't get me started on those.

I hope I didn't ramble too much, please be gentle with me.

I know too many people that actually buy everything that is limited just to not miss out... It's honestly disgusting and I feel like they are being exploited. But they seem to be alright with it, so I guess I can't speak for them.

It is only FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) if you are afraid.

Sounds like folks need some self-control and less FOMO. I'm someone who has spent entirely too much time and money on this game(without regret), but I do not bust my butt for the limited time events/items unless I actually want it. Control yourself. I'm thinking folks are either immature and do not understand how the world of commerce (and sales) works, or just want to complain for the sake of it.

Also, if you play long enough, you'll see everything "limited" come back around. I was so happy being the brassiest assassin around, now, not so much ;(

It’s strictly a matter of self control and acceptance.

If someone had the time to farm boxes on 15 characters per day then I shouldn’t impede them. I just accepted that I will not have the same outcome as them.

But even still doing my 7 per day I feel I have been rewarded adequately. (Made about 30k worth of goods per day).

I mainly just had to accept that I could either get the mount or the costumes. And the costumes won.
    PvP needs more love.

Personally getting a bit tired of one event after another and really only collecting the indrik feathers and berries. All of the armour motifs, and other limited stuff, not that bothered really, I am playing the game a lot less at the moment and not really feeling like I am enjoying much of it. looking forward to elsweyr and that's about it.

Events are good, I think it's this pesky Indrik mount rubbish they have started up. They now realize they need to run constant events in order to adhere to the rules of an idea they created perhaps, a little hastily.

I do miss just logging on and doing what I want to do, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day anymore for ESO and life.

I guess it's a cash-grab. As usual, the more events they put up, the more stuff they can put up in the crown store and the more people they draw into playing the game, the more crown sales they are going to get.

Thing is, very few of the festival rewards are actually limited and with very few exceptions (specifically New Life and the Jester's Festival) there is absolutely no new or limited time content.

There's the indrik berries and feathers of course and possibly the outfit pieces (and even those can be bought from other players after the event, although the price will shoot up). But as far as I know everything else available is the same materials, motifs etc. that you can get all year round.

That's why, until this year, I never really bothered with any of the special events - an extra chance at the same stuff we normally get doesn't interest me, especially when so many events (not this one, but many others) involve competing with other players to complete the quests.

I understand starting off feeling like you have to do it because ZOS are telling you it's special and limited and you'll miss out if you don't. But I would have thought once each person has been through that once and realised there's not really anything to miss out on if you don't do it they wouldn't fall for exactly the same marketing a second time. If you enjoy it then sure, go ahead and do as much as you like. But the people complaining about being forced to grind special events whilst continuing to do it make no sense to me.

The only thing that is making the same old stuff special during the event is that we are not having to pay outrageous prices at guild traders for what we're getting. I want to make my main toon a master crafter someday, but there are things in the game I just don't enjoy doing (PvP, timed stealth missions to name a couple). By having this event where I'm getting motifs, plans, and recipes, some of which only drop during activities I don't do, by doing things I like doing, is a wonderful thing for me. I'm skipping PvP week in the event but I'll have a chance to get Tharn outfit drops during the last week. So it will work out.
