Yellow Shield blocking indicator (On/Off) button within gameplay settings

I would really like to see this simple feature implemented, especially as since it's addition players have had a very down the line mixed response to it.
Personally for me this function gets in the way of Role play aesthetics & limits the ways in which I can take dynamic screenshots of my characters.

I have seen threads posted both on here & on Reddit since .. 2016? .. it is now 2019 & the ZoS team still haven't listened to it's user base on the subject.
Why?, I'm really curious if this is just an issue that has fallen on deaf ears or if there is a particular reason why the ZoS team do not want to make this function optional.

    You Want to see this implemented... even tho people have a "mixed" reaction - meaning there are a lot who don't want it ... and You Don't want it because it limits you.

    ESO players have MIXED feelings in regards to the animations implementation itself.
    So, the best solution to this issue would be to give the players the option to turn it off or on for themselves.

    Make sense now?

    I never understood it in the first place. It’s essentially a telegraph for blocking, right? At least that’s how I see it. But blocking in itself is it’s own telegraph because your character literally blocks. So it’s a telegraph of a telegraph. It just doesn’t make sense apart from being a part of the shield ultimate visuals- it’s useful there because you’re auto-blocking and can do other stuff without telegraphing with the block animation.

    The only thing the floating block animation is good for is getting bugged and floating permanently in front of my character while not even blocking.

    If I REALLY needed help determining whether or not I was blocking, i wouldn't even be able to see the floating shield icon in most graphically busy encounters in pvp or trials. You know how I usually tell whether I am blocking? I'm holding the block button. Mind blowing revelation, I know.

    I would love for this animation to have a toggle function just like the "Inverse Foot Kinematics" animation they added in after the floating shield.

    It should have 4 toggle modes
    • On
    • Off
    • Player Only
    • Other players only
    PC/NA - Nightfighters, Raid Leader and Officer

    For pvp purposes, this should not be invisible to other players, period.

    Don't care if you want to turn it off for your view but it seems at bit silly. Just don't use it of you are role playing and it bothers you

    It needs to be a status effect and show up under active effects. That cruddy bull crap is the bane of shield motifs, it hides your shield style that you invested gold and time into collecting. I’d love a toggle to be rid of that annoyance.

    Why though? You can already very clearly see when someone is blocking. And in a high octane situation with a bunch of player effects flying around, it is much easier to see a character movement/position than it is to see a partially opaque, muted yellow graphic floating in front of them. The only scenario in which it is actually worthwhile is being a visual cue for the shield ultimate.

    I saw literally not a single post asking for an EXTRA indicator for blocking. This change wasnt in the patch notes and Zenimax gave zero response (as far as I know) as to why it was implemented

    YES. The giant spectral shield is really annoying.. They also need to have this option effect the "player detection eye" telegraph. Whenever I accidentally cast magelight or evil hunter I get this massive red thing above my head.. no thanks..

    Pretty easy to see if others are blocking. I never even notice the symbol come up when I’m in PvP anyway. I’m looking at the character movements. I’d like the option to turn it off for sure. It’s just kind of goofy.

    It hasn't? I thought I saw it back in beta. Well, however long it's been there, I've been asking for its removal (or optional removal).

    It was added because players complained that they were unable to tell when someone was block casting because the animation plays for skills even if your holding block. Without the indication other players have no idea that person just block casted. Then they go and complain that people are blocking without actually blocking bc they can't see it and so zos added the indicator. I don't think it's necessary at all for the person using it though. A toggleable option for self viewing would be nice.

    But hey they also removed being able to hold a bow fully drawn bc of PvP as well. Personally I loved using that to take screenshots but now if I want drawn bow shots I have to time it perfectly.

    Even seeing this come up when fighting hostile NPC's is bothersome. The visual really ruins things for me, especially as one of the most appealing thing to me about this game is the immersive atmosphere & the ability to just zone out in the environments.

    See... my feeling is that if you're attacking you shouldn't be ABLE to block. Do one or the other.
