Login details showing in guild chat

Why does Zenimax show half our login credentials in guild chat?
I strongly disagree with this practice and I move that this gets changed as soon as possible.
Apart from the obvious security risk, I have seen many people that use their real name as their user ID and I think it sort of intrudes on their privacy.

You should never create a UserID with your Realname in the Internet !

I do agree, but for different reasons. It's simply confusing to me that the name I invite is not the name that joins. It's tiresome to keep track of which ID is linked to which name, and it's just plain silly to be calling the peeps in your guild @flxnite8739 in stead of the name they actually chose for the character that's in your guild.

    Er, sorry?

They chose to use their real name as an account login name, really, are some people that stupid?

Surely no one in their right mind uses their real names for logging into anything, even if the use this game uses it for is somewhat unusual?

I would also prefer my account log in not to show please. An option to choose for a screen name rather than the log in name would solve it i think :)

Not everyone is as security conscious as you...
Also, I don't remember seeing any warning about it during account creation, might just be me, but I would NEVER expect something like this.
I still think it's a bad call and I request a separate screen name... like any other game!

What does choosing your login name to be the same as your real name have to do with stupidity? When i create an account there are usually specific fields for login and for what is visible to other people (eg. forum name). When i create an account i don't expect my login name to be visible to the world, it's mine, what if i chose some very inappropriate words for it?

Anyway, the other arguments are more important imo, where it is very confusing chatting to people while using their account names and then being in party and seeing their char names. I don't see the logic of using your account name while in-game. There are also security reasons not to use the account name everywhere.

In this case take a lesson from Blizzard who made it so that only your account-wide friends can view your account name. They did that for good reason.

Yes, Blizzard's battle-tag is a good solution. Login name for real life friends, battle tag screen name for people I met on-line and I enjoy playing with.
