Can no longer bring up map or type in group chat while dead?

Since the wrathstone dlc, I’m no longer able to bring up map or type in group chat while dead.
But other people I heard still can.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?

    Good to know I’m not crazy. I thought I was experiencing some Mendala effect about group texting people what they were doing wrong in dungeons while I’m dead.
