My PVP raid will swear that senches are better than the rest, horses get caught quite a bit, and bears are the worst...

But that's all anecdotal, not actually testing. ZOS says they are all the same.

Senches just feel faster, more agile. You can never fail or jump into a dang rock instead of over it while riding a senche. They are kitty cats after all.

Yeah farming, don't ride at all. I built a Stamden Cyrodiil Runner.

Cowards Gear 30% Major Expedition & Major Portection (At all times) + Darkstride gear for your Sprint Reduction and Sneak. Traits Well-Fitted.

Steed Mundus, Medium armor and all Passives to increase movement plus all 3 piece jewelry swifted.

Warden can use the Bull Netch to feed your stamina. You will never run out of stamina and can out run some horses, not all. But you won't need to dismount and mount.

I feel the cats do move a lot better, I notice them in Cyrodiil, as its the largest map. Over many different terrain, they recover quickly and carry on. As for speed its the same.

I use Fiords instead of cowards and get laughed at for using well fitted.
I use guar for rough terrain and lava.

I always ride senches (or mounts with cat models) in pvp specifically for the reason the OP stated. They do in fact handle terrain better than other mounts. A close second is the dwemer spider ride. But any other models, do in fact get caught up on, and slowed down by bumps and hills in the terrain whereas the senche do not. I've tested this over and over again in Cyro and PVE zones.

edit: oh, and to confirm as well; senches are not any faster than other mounts trained to the same speed/endurance, it is only a matter of how they handle terrain.

Some mounts are definitely faster. I have been following people for the dailies lately, going very straight, and they still manage to pull away. Something is acting different between us. (Accelerated riding, max riding, etc.)

I seem to remember a year or two ago a thread where people tested this and they found that whilst mounts are indeed the same speed, however some are more affected by terrain than others.

Whilst the differences were very small, I believe at the time the Nix-Ox was the fastest, then the senches and wolves, then the horses, camels and bears.

Totally agree. The striped senche mount just seems to handle terrain features and jumping more smoothly, while the Dwemer spider is a close 2nd. I rarely use any other mount just because they seem to get slowed down more by terrain, and jumping smoothly with them is much more difficult.

    LMAO.

Not all mounts are created equal. Speed is always the same but the turn rate is not. Horses, indriks and camels have atrocious turn rates, whilst senches, spiders and nix ox has functionally no turn rate.

Keep in mind, many farmers are geared out specifically for speed farming, so they may have had the Wind Runner CP passive plus the Steed mundus, which would make them faster than you even at max riding speed.

I think there is a CP passive that increases your riding speed a little. That's probably what you saw here. They all go the same speed, some of them just do it better. In my experience, horses stumble on every crack in the road. Senches and wolves get caught up on little terrain changes far less frequently.

I swear certain mounts are bugged or slower than others, all riding skills maxxed.wenches seem to be fast than my courser and soul shriven mounts.the cave bear is hideous to even watch run.

@Mojmir it's really not faster, it's smaller and you're closer to the ground so you feel extra speed. There are tiny differences in mounts, however the speed/stamina/inventory upgrades are actually all equal. Kitten mounts are more accurate and easier to control, where the guars seem clumsy with their big feets and huge movements.

Q.Q I love my guar mount so much <3

You can tell by how much the wind blows your hair. I'm closer to the ground and my hair gets blown back the same on all mounts.

All the mounts are not created equal. So far I have noticed.

-Cats are a little faster and bears slower.
-The turn rate is very different with different mounts. Cats, spiders, and wolves do well with horses, camels, and bears being hard to turn precisely. Good luck turning on those little keep stair cases with a clumsy camel.
-Spiders will glide over obstacles that everything else gets caught on with wolves a close second to that. Horses seem to want to stub their hooves on pebbles.

Most PVP players know these things and I have been part of a variety of discussions about it during raids. I guess now is your chance to buy a BIS spider mount again for only the low, low, cost of 600gems ;)
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

I have tested this extensively and it is absolutely true that Senche mounts will get hung up on terrain far less often than others, especially horses and camels. This is likely due to their "hit box" being more streamlined while horses are smaller or farther from the ground and therefor easier to get de-synced from the collision layer during various animations/contortions.

That said, it is interesting to note that perhaps the smoothest, fastest feeling, and most reliable ride I have had in the game, including the least problems with collisions, would probably be the black elk AKA "Doom Deer" (can't recall the actual name), which is a unique mount type that seems to be able to just roll over (and up the side of) things that would cause other mounts to come to a lurching halt.

I always thought it was my imagination but I *feel* like there are differences when I switch between types of mounts; wolf, camel, senche, horse, etc. It sometime feels like I am stopping on every little pebble and other times I feel like things run smoother. Could the Inverse Foot Kinematics affect it?
